Ill will for beginners...

Are you sick of rude, opinionated people yelling at each other about politics? I know that I am. Thus I enjoyed this little instruction manual . Everyone cops a serve, just the way that I like it. You might like it too. Be warned though, there is a little fruity language.

Force has no place where there is need of skill

There has been a clamouring from the mob for more Henry on this blog, and never let it be said that a baying mob cannot frighten me into a response. Quite unlike Leonidas at Thermopylae, I am not prepared to deny the teeming masses the object of their affection. So here he is, my first born, the hulking beast that is Henry Fitzgerald McCracken . Actually, I am quite proud of Henry today. As ever, we traipsed off this morning to play group, and as ever, a horrid young man – who I shall not name for reasons of decorum – was there again. This young man (some deal older than my Henry), is not popular amongst the group. Clearly a spoilt child – a ‘ Hutchins man’, at three-and-a-half no less – he lacks in comprehension what he does in manners. Even at this early age, he is what one might call a ‘taker’ in life, empowered in his selfish ways by parents seemingly ignorant to his effect upon others. Truth be told, I feel him to be a simpleton. The lack of any awareness of the withering glares...

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.

I have already expended quite a few posts on Zimbabwe and the recent turmoil there. I can’t quite express the disappointment that I feel with regards to the latest outcome other than say that I hope that Mugabe gets exactly what is coming to him. Unfortunately, I am familiar with this tune and can see how it will probably pan out. Thus, I won’t bore you with another tirade, I will link to some sober words of the Political Umpire, who has pretty much said what I would have liked to say (only far more politely that I can manage this fine morning). For those interested, I am quoting Thomas Jefferson there in the header, but hold little hope that it will happen.

Excuse me while I get this off my chest...

I have expended quite a few words on Robert Mugabe over the past few months, but really, I think that five words is all that you need: What an odious, obnoxious prick. His comment this time? Prior to his dodgy runoff election he comes out with : "Anyone who tries to undermine our land reform we will challenge. We are prepared to fight for our country or to go to war if we lose it - as happened to our forefathers." This is exactly the rhetoric that one could see in Spain prior to the Spanish General Election of 1936 (albeit from both sides in that case). We know what happened there .
