Henry approaches the pinnacle of The Nut...

Expectation is the root of all heartache.

A beautiful Spring day at the beach. Seven Mile Beach, September 2010. Beaches are just as fine – if not better – for the photographically inclined punter in wild and woolly weather than the sun and fun. As long as you have your back to the pelting rain, you can get the odd impressive shot off now and again. Here I am looking north on Seven Mile Beach a few weeks back. The zoom has taken me maybe two-and-a-half miles, Bereft of anything better, here is today’s eco-friendly Meme! Do you recycle? Absolutely. One doesn’t need to chain oneself to an asthmatic lesbian Minke whale to do one’s bit. Do you do you laundry with hot or cold water? Cold. Nappies soaking in the nappy-bucket get hot though. What kind of light bulbs are in your house? Pass. They’re little ones. Do you compost? We have a very small compost bin. It fills up very quickly. What kind of vehicle do you drive? I don’t. Do you use plastic or reusable bags when grocery shopping? When we still went to the shops, we took re-us...

There are more fools in the world than there are people.

Sunrise over the Elizabeth Street Pier, Hobart. April, 2010. Theme Thursday and I don't have a BICYCLE. BICYCLE! I could maybe ride a BICYCLE off the pier, but it's too cold. I've heard of underwater BICYCLEs, but they're no use to me. It's too windy at the moment to ride to work, as I'd be blown off a BICYCLE, and no doubt off the bridge with it. No, BICYCLE is of no use to me.

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind. The answer is blowin' in the wind.

The answer blowin' in the wind , Mr Zimmerman, but where is the question? A celebratory Theme Thursday today where I eschew cheap laughs and steer clear of matters flatus and share with you a photo of a windy Salamanca summer's day. Today I advance the bold hypothesis that Mr Zimmerman may well have caterwauled that "the answer, my friend, is leaves ". Can you guess the theme yet? That's right, it's WIND . So I was thinking Zimmerman's track, and was thinking what it was all about. Some poseurs posit that the song is nothing more (or less) than a series of rhetorical questions about peace, war, and freedom. The notion that the answer "blowin' in the wind" is merely a metaphor for the supreme "unknowableness" [the Germans will have a word for this] of such questions. I beg to differ. In order, the answers are: Eight. One. Trick question, the answer is never. Approximately fifteen million. Männer werden nie frei sein, bis er erst ...

The danger of the past was that men became slaves. The danger of the future is that men may become robots.

High winds have a tendency to make the surface of the water do unexpected things. I promise that your regular service will return as normal from here.
