A thing may happen and be a total lie; another thing may not happen and be truer than the truth.

Friars Rock. Bruny Island, Tasmania. September 2013. Okay, an announcement. I've got 4,420 posts on this here blog. Posts have been pretty consistent since the end of 2007. But I'm bored. It's become a bit of a chore and the Internet has changed. So this is changing. I'll keep up the book reviews. Probably the Q and As. Maybe the weblinks (if I can be bothered). Otherwise it will be a bit more sporadic. All is not lost though, you can still Track my books on Goodreads . See my photos on Flickr . Watch my videos on YouTube . Link in on LinkedIn . Check out my pinboards on Pinterest . Tweet me on Twitter . Check the blog too, you never know when I might desire to share a poem or a Drabble...

Yes. I remember Adlestrop—

Australian Fur Seals. Friars Rock, Bruny Island. September 2013. The seals smelled like squid poo. Not the squid of a poo, but squid-flavoured poo. Some people don't like it all that much, but I didn't mind. I've smelled worse. Adlestrop , Edward Thomas Yes. I remember Adlestrop— The name, because one afternoon Of heat the express-train drew up there Unwontedly. It was late June. The steam hissed. Someone cleared his throat. No one left and no one came On the bare platform. What I saw Was Adlestrop—only the name And willows, willow-herb, and grass, And meadowsweet, and haycocks dry, No whit less still and lonely fair Than the high cloudlets in the sky. And for that minute a blackbird sang Close by, and round him, mistier, Farther and farther, all the birds Of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.

Come, gentle Spring! ethereal mildness, come.

So here we are, springtime in Tasmania again. Spring has truly sprung folks. The lambs are out and frolicking. The cockatoos are boisterous of a morning. The magpies are swooping the early morning dog walkers. The lads on the bus are nervously switching off their i-pods and trying to talk to the girls. The wallabies have turned feral and have taken to attacking poorly monikered children. Footballers whose teams have missed the finals are turning up somewhat under the weather in nightdresses with foolishly large phalluses attached to them. Ahh Spring! Glorious Spring ! It’s a fine time of year to be alive.
