Clevinger was dead. That was the basic flaw in his philosophy.

Walking home from work. St Davids Park, Hobart. June 2013. Wordless Wednesday. 10 Murray Street on acid. St Davids Park, Hobart. June 2013.

I liked things better when I didn't understand them.

Ezra at dusk.

A tragic situation exists precisely when virtue does not triumph but when it is still felt that man is nobler than the forces which destroy him.

The walk home from the bus stop can sometimes be difficult. East Derwent Highway, the Lindisfarne/Geilston Bay border. August 2010. Another day, another instalment, another experiment. 81. FAVOURITE THOUGHT PROVOKING SONG: A Change is Gonna Come , Sam Cooke. 82. FAVOURITE THING TO HATE: I am not sure that I’d classify anything that I’d hate as a ‘favourite’. That said, I do hate. 83. FAVOURITE DRINK: I like orange juice. I like cola. I like proper lemonade. 84. FAVOURITE ZODIAC SIGN Huh? The virgin is good. Way better than buckets of water or tampons. 85. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SPORT? Tickling. 86. WHAT IS YOUR HAIR COLOUR? Seal brown . The Hex triplet is #321414. 87. EYE COLOUR? Taupe . That Hex triplet is #483C32 88. DO YOU WEAR GLASSES? Yes I do. If I had the money through, I’d have the laser. 89. SIBLINGS? One brother. He’s older. 90. FAVOURITE MONTH(s) This one is hard. Maybe November.

A lie can be halfway round the world before the truth has got its boots on.

Bunkered in bureaucrats at 10 Murray on a chilly Autumn's evening. May, 2010. By and large, people annoy me. As do dogs. Cats can be annoying, but not crocodiles or Great White Sharks. Children annoy me at 2 am if they're screaming, but not if they're sleeping. Is it my fault or theirs?

Ignorance is the mother of devotion.

The grand old dame™ at night. May 2010. Poor old 10 Murray. Every cold winter's evening she awaits her fate... Trendy open planned coffee shops and a wide screen television.

A conqueror is always a lover of peace.

The view north from Salmanca Place in the evening, rendered as a 1980s synth-pop album inner sleeve. May 2010. Theme Thursday and I'm in a rush! What a surprise. WRINKLE. Hmmmm. Wrin·kle. Noun . (rngkl) Hmmmm. "1. A small furrow, ridge, or crease on a normally smooth surface, caused by crumpling, folding, or shrinking." Hmmmm. No . "2. A line or crease in the skin, as from age." No . "3. A clever trick, method, or device, especially one that is new and different." Closer . Far closer. "4. A problem or imperfection; a fault." GOT IT! Combine four and three and I can link today's theme with the photo chosen randomly last week. An unsteady hand, low levels of light and an unpredictable bus schedule lead to a series of photographs that exhibited a WRINKLE (that is, WRINKLE as outlined in definition four ). My WRINKLE (see definition three ), was to utilise mediocre significant PhotoShop skills and render said presentable image through a...

The prerequisite of originality is the art of forgetting, at the proper moment, what we know.

The corner of Murray and Davey Street. May 2010. I quite like the colours of an autumn evening, even if I rarely am out and about it in with the camera. I blame vampires. And werewolves. Bloody werewolves.

Our bugles sang truce, for the night-cloud had lower'd, and the sentinel stars set their watch in the sky.

I spotted this lovely sky on Sunday evening when I put the rubbish bins out. Here you're looking across the Derwent River over onto Cornelian Bay. Overheard on the bus this morning: "Some speed freaks came in smashed up some chairs and wrecked our bong, but they left when they realised that no-one would fight them." They didn't say whether they were bikies or not ...

The Cougar 9000. It's the Rolls Royce of wheelchairs. This is like... you're almost glad to be handicapped.

I know that it looks like Elmo has suffered an OD, but he hasn't. He's just had a long day. There's only so much bangers and mash in brown onion gravy that a little red monster can take before it's time for bed. That said, there is a certain vibe about the above photo that screams Keef Richards at the Villefranche-sur-Mer, and I've seen Elmo and Henry stagger around the room to Tumbling Dice enough to know that neither would have been out of place during the sessions for Exile on Main Street . On other matters, I would like to wish everybody a belated Merry Bastille Day for yesterday. I feel that Henry has the potential to be a future Robespierre to his father's Saint-Just, only with far more tickling and far less bloodshed. Also, we've had some good feedback on the impending baby's name , but I'm still open for more. To answer one question, Elmo isn't on the list because we already have an Elmo living here. Two would be overkill, and probably ...

(My) Photo of the day, Or, On the natural wonders of Geilston Bay

I have had an extraordinarily busy day today, so I've had to dig into the grab bag of pictures and fished out this summer shot of a creature slowly moving across our backyard. Somehow Jen conjured up this varmint out of a couple of balls of wool. Unfortunately, she'll have to be punished for such witchcraft. UPDATE If you have clicked on the comments, you will note that Jen has posted a link to the pattern for this turtle. I thought that it might be best to bring this into the post itself. So, as my lovely and talented wife has pointed out, anyone interested in knitting their own turtle can find the free pattern here !

(My) Photo of the day

I've gone with another evening photo, this time of the traffic as I was walking up Davey Street on Tuesday evening. I am sort of annoyed that I've gone with this one, as I had another thing in mind today, but didn't take the shot. You know that it is a sad state of affairs when you see what could be a great photo of a bunch of little kids mucking around in the park, but stop yourself because you're worried that someone will 'get the wrong idea'. The world really is stupid sometimes.
