All the world's a stage and most of us are desperately unrehearsed.

Get down of the pyramid boys! Everybody down from the pyramid!

What I look forward to is continued immaturity followed by death.

Carrying Ezra down the Nut. Stanley, Tasmania's North West Coast. April 2013. Theme Thursday already and I think that we are facing some serious TRUST issues... Looking out over Bass Strait from atop the Nut. Stanley, Tasmania's North West Coast. April 2013. Sawyer Bay, as seen from the Nut. Stanley, Tasmania's North West Coast. April 2013.

If you haven't found something strange during the day, it hasn't been much of a day.

My last snorkel (thus far) of the season. Flowerpot point, Blackmans Bay. April 2013. Another Q and A stolan from Sunday Stealing: The 5000 Question Meme, Part Five . 101. What does happiness/ joy feel like physically? A tricky one. It feels like increased activity in the brain's left prefrontal lobe, as well as a decreased amount of the hormone cortisol in the bloodstream. 102. List five things you love starting with the one you love the absolute most. A Jen, Henry and Ezra [a three way tie]. B Fresh clean air and a clear blue sky. C An expanse of open water. D Peace and quiet. E Floating. 103. How many movies have you gone to see this year? This year? One. Wreck it Ralph . 104. If you could have 3 wishes... but none of them could be for yourself, what would you wish for? 1) That Jen would get a self-replenishing magic wallet. 2) That Henry and Ezra get lifelong health and happiness. 3) Global peace, love and understanding. 105. In what ways do you relax...

Anger is like those ruins which smash themselves on what they fall.

Collecting jellyfish. Denison Beach, Tasmania's East Coast. January 2013. With regards to these jellyfish (above), the lads and I assumed a peacekeeping mission to fish these stinging beasts of the deep out and lock up in a specially designed Jellyfish Maximum Security Prison! Indeed, once we received orders to cease activities, we'd detained at least forty of the beasties. It was all to nowt though, as it seems that the East Australian Current - which you might know from Finding Nemo - shifts warm water from the tropical Coral Sea right down to the Tasman Sea, all the while depositing creatures of all shapes and sizes well out of their element. That is, the water here in Tasmania was far too cold for these jellyfish, and they were all dead by the next day (as confirmed by the amount of dead jellies littering the sea floor seen on our snorkelling expedition the following day). Anyway, to the Q and A! Again, I've pilfered it from Sunday Stealing: The Meme From Suburbia...

There are two kinds of fools: those who can't change their opinions and those who won't.

Heavy lifting. Fossil Bay Cove, Tinderbox. December 2012. We've actually been away all week and all of these posts have been automated, so this week's Theme Thursday theme is actually VACATION.

habit of memory propels to the ground of his making

Bathing beauties? Opossum Bay, South Arm Peninsula. December 2012. The weather forecast holds mixed fortunes for our planned Christmas brunch right here on Opossum Bay beach. Fingers crossed. Here, have one of my favourite poems... After Making Love We Hear Footsteps , Galway Kinnell For I can snore like a bullhorn or play loud music or sit up talking with any reasonably sober Irishman and Fergus will only sink deeper into his dreamless sleep, which goes by all in one flash, but let there be that heavy breathing or a stifled come-cry anywhere in the house and he will wrench himself awake and make for it on the run—as now, we lie together, after making love, quiet, touching along the length of our bodies, familiar touch of the long-married, and he appears—in his baseball pajamas, it happens, the neck opening so small he has to screw them on— and flops down between us and hugs us and snuggles himself to sleep, his face gleaming with satisfaction at being this very ...

The sure way to be cheated is to think one's self more cunning than others.

Just to continue on the hermit crab theme for one more post...

Bachelors have consciences, married men have wives.

Alas, we didn't jump...

Evil always turns up in this world through some genius or other.

Me! Castray Esplanade, Hobart Waterfront. September 2012. Sunday Stealing is back! The Who Are You Meme ! 1. What is your biggest pet peeve? People's general selfishness/ lack of concern for others consistently frustrates me. 2. Where and when were you born? I was born in Burnie, Tasmania in the week that Hotel California by The Eagles was top of the Billboard charts in the US. 3. Where did your parents meet? You would have to ask them that question. I assume that it was in Melbourne, Victoria. 4. Do you have any siblings? What are/ were they like in four words? I have an older brother. He was an older brother. 5. Where do you live now, and with whom? I live in Hobart with Jen, Hen and Ez. 6. What is your occupation? I like to call myself a "Policy, Research, Communications and Academic Professional". 7. Write a full description of yourself. I'm just a sore and sorry little bot who needs to be loved. 8. To which social class do you belong? ...

He who wishes to be obeyed must know how to command.

One day those cliffs will fall. Until then...

Contrariwise, if it was so, it might be; and if it were so, it would be; but as it isn't, it ain't. That's logic.

Ezra took this. Home, June 2012. Another Q and A which means another lot stolen from Sunday Stealing. This week, The Imaginary Meme, Part Three ! 41. Growing up, who was the easier mark: Mum or Dad? It really depended on the score. If pushed I’d have to say my mother because you could always get her to feel guilty about denying you something. My father was less easily coerced. 42. What is the stupidest pet that you ever saw? I have always found distasteful the pet that is kept as a pose. I remember a fellow who would walk around with a duck on a leash. He was an ‘artist’ (allegedly). 43. Tell us about a band whose every CD is a “must have”. That would be Wilco. 44. Were you surprised when Jim Parsons came out? [Just Googled Jim Parsons.] Well, he has a strong background in the theatre and seems to have rather thin lips, so I probably would not have surprised had I known who he was. 45. Have you ever shoplifted? Never. Never would either. 46. We currently have a per...

Autumn is a second Spring when every leaf is a flower.

Here you can see Ez and myself looking suitably tired this very morning. Henry and Jen had a mother and son morning, while Ezra and I stayed home to do some autumn cleaning and grumble about the declining fortunes of the Latvian industrial economy. To cheer ourselves up, we later went out and purchased one gross of rusks, a terrabyte of hard drive, a sausage and a bloody great pencil. Seriously, the pencil is a foot long.

It wounded him to think that he would never be but a shy guest at the feast of the world's culture.

Here is the vista overlooking Battery Point from the second floor of the McDougal Building. As you can see, it was a bit blue out there that day. I though that after the success of my self portrait last week , I'd try another, this time in words. Me I am hope I am old-school I am expectation I am got I am mother I am goal I am ice I am all business I am can I am everywhere I am insignificant I am plastic I am practice I am mundane I am selflessness I am rock I am automatic I am okay I am need I am not I am taste I am alphabet I am promise I am cat I am interception I am rehearsal I am waiting I am vacation I am death I am desire I am away I am desperation I am joy I am something I am indigenous I am child I am wretched I am heavy I am key I am repression I am head I am father I am why I am folly I am after I am inundation I am illicit I am the I am order I am awake I am saviour I am drum I am touch I am sabotage I am static I am rhythm I am theory I am away I am glide I am destinat...

I yearn for you tragically.

As a repayment to Jen for posting her picture up last week, I felt it my duty to square up today with this shot of hers of Ezra and myself in the shower. Consider it payback for Henry too, as he was snapped in the shower way back in June last year. Ezra is quite a fan of the shower actually, very keen to have the water stream down his face, which I am told some kiddies don’t like at all. I don’t know, both mine seem to like it. You might have noticed some odd bits and pieces cropping up on the blog here and there. Forgive the indulgence, but I am fobbing off some creative writing upon you poor hapless soles. Both to test stuff out, and to relieve me of thinking up a whole other bunch o’ nonsense to post two or three times a day!

Sentimental irony is a dog that bays at the moon while pissing on graves.

So we’ve got some water and a rope again. This was taken this morning in Sullivan’s Cove, right in the heart of Hobart. Thanks to Willits’ finest, Elaine , I have one of these interweb tube meme things to relieve me of the need to be overly creative. This is a good time for one of these things actually, as I’ve been up since half-past-three in the morning (Ezra got back to sleep, I didn’t) and I’m not faring too well. All I have to do is reveal five details about myself, and I figure that I can probably manage that so I shall give it a go. 1) I fail to understand what is so special about the work of Vincent Van Gogh. In general, I think that the post-Impressionists were pretty rubbish when compared to the Impressionists. 2) I think that Gough Whitlam seems like a bit of a wanker, to be honest, and I can’t understand why so many people – with many of whom I share comparable political views – worship him. 3) I sometimes regret not throwing in “Napoleon” as a middle name for Henry. 4) I s...

Babies are such a nice way to start people

Well I couldn't just leave it at one photo today, could I? Brand spanking new baby and all! So here you are, another of little Ezra. He's a little one in Henry terms, but a ripper nonetheless. And another one for good measure. The above photograph is one with a little more perspective vis-à-vis size. Lest you feel that I am terribly good at setting timers on cameras and then running back with a sleeping newborn, or that Jennifer has awfully hairy arms for an lass, I will admit that neither myself or Henry took these photographs. Yes, the tired-looking bloke above is Me. I'm holding a nude little Ezra while waiting for his bath to fill. In defence of my sons, I'm tired more through the lack of sleep from excitement, than littlies carrying on. Henry has been an angel (normal evening meltdowns exempted) and sleeps through the night. Ezra is still a little confused regarding night or day, but is quiet as a newborn kitten (especially when contrasted with Henry's foghorn ...
