Showing posts with the label henry and the gang

The present is an illusory state between immediate past and immediate future.

Unfortunately, host duties prevented me from fully exploiting the innumerable photographic opportunities. That said, I have the feelers out for any attendees that might have snared any interesting shots on the day. I did manage to capture, along with the above video, a shot of Henry and his lovely assistant Evie [100% certified organic] confronting the dangerous beast that Ezra and I prepared the evening before.

He had decided to live forever or die in the attempt.

Here are the gang anxiously waiting the attack of the rogue emus . I like this one, it has a touch of "invasion of Normandy" about it. Note Ezra's cool indifference, yet the more experienced Henry's marked anxiety...

To be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved.

How about this motley crew of chancers? Fair dinkum, trying to take a photo where these three are even vaguely all looking in the right direction, with none of them pulling a silly face or looking off their nut, is a big ask! This is even more difficult, when the camera these days has assumed an almost mystical ability to draw children's hands to it the moment that it appears!

It is easier to lead men to combat, stirring up their passion, than to restrain them and direct them toward the patient labours of peace.

It's hard work getting everybody to stand still long enough to snare a photo. This is the best that I could manage!

True peace is not merely the absence of tension: it is the presence of justice.

Here s the gang quite a few months back now. Henry didn't look like a roadie for the Greatful Dead and Ezra still had a basketball head. Jen pretty much looks the same, however. I myself have a few extra grey hairs. Pros and Cons of Toddlers Part Six Pro #5: They're EASY TO BEAT . Henry loves competitive games: hide and seek; chess; Connect Four; Brandings; Catch and Kiss; Scrabble; anything really. Him being a toddler means that I have an unsurpassed win ratio, as he isn't very good. Con #4: They're TOO EASY TO BEAT . Winning without a challenge is just not fun. Seriously, this evening I had a good half hour of hide and seek, and Henry hid in the same two places over and over. Compounding this poor strategy was a tendency to giggle the whole time, and then shout "I'm here by the drawers" half a second after I start looking for him. He's just rubbish at it. Where's the glory in that kind of victory?

Good-bye — and hail! my Fancy.

So that wraps up the tour, I hope that you enjoyed it. As a last image, I saved this one of my three favourite people standing in front of a tree that had fallen over. If anyone asks, you didn’t see nuthin', right?

With ordinary talent and extraordinary perseverance, all things are attainable.

My god I have been busy this week. Here is Henry and the gang looking suitably solemn.
