Glory is largely a theatrical concept. There is no striving for glory without a vivid awareness of an audience.

These fish have undoubtedly seen better days. The orange fellow in particular seems surprised at his predicament. Henry and I took this snap at the fish mongers at Mures Lower Deck . There is a cruel beauty in the fact that I live in a place that has the world's greatest seafood , and I'm not much of a fan of fish. That said, a nice bit of squid, octopus and the odd John Dorey, and I'll be right!

You never understand a point until you fail to explain it to the child.

One of the great things about the camera I got for Christmas is the shutter speed option. It makes photographing the toddler all the more easier! Here he is doing laps inside the Henry Jones IXL building. It's a lovely spot, and they've done a great job transforming the old jam factory into a la-de-da yuppie hotspot, but fair dinkum whoever is in charge of the cafe in there needs to work on their customer service! BAH!

Generally speaking, the errors in religion are dangerous; those in philosophy only ridiculous.

A dodgy wall of a shop that sells, well, I'll leave it up to you to guess!

Just a quick one this evening, I'm so tired I could eat a horse (that's how tired I am!) Here is a picture taken on my way home from one of my favourite shops in town Spice World . As a fan of all manner of cuisine, this is one of the best places to go to find ingredients from all over the world. As a particular fan of Hungarian food, I always like to browse the wide range of paprika available here. As always, I am on the lookout for tasty recipes for Henry and I to try from all over the world, so if anyone cares to help us out, links in the comments page would be much appreciated. Over and out!

(My) Photo of the day, Or History is nothing but the actions of men in pursuit of their ends

This is the take away shop on the Lindisfarne/Geilston Bay border that happens to sit opposite my bus stop each weekday morning. They appear to do a brisk trade early on, as there is a constant procession of people in and out for the five or so minutes that I find myself waiting. Now, nothing says great Australian breakfast (in 1980) like a can of coke, a Chiko Roll , two dim sims and three potato cakes! Each morning I witness a surprising number of people come out of this shop carrying this delicious (and healthy) breakfast. Generally, they are men aged 22–55 wearing stubby shorts and driving utes more often than not with a dirty concrete mixer on the back. It is certainly different to the eggs Benedict and poached salmon that I see people tucking into in Salamanca. Those occasions that I have caught the bus a little later, you can see a stream of kids heading to the high school just across the road from here picking up a bag of hit chips on their way to school. Now I love hot chips...

(My) daily photo

A shot of everyday life from me today. Here is the cold rack of the Salamanca Fruit Market just down the road from where I work. Each morning I usually get a tub of Tamar Valley yogurt (from the lovely North West of the state, where all the best things come from). This and a couple of pears generally get me through the morning. It generally works. For those interested, I went with honey today. I like to mix the flavours up a bit, but if my hand is forced, I think that mango is my favorite. As this current project that I am working on is winding up at the end of the month, I applied for a new job today. We'll see how it goes. [If anyone from Tamar Valley yogurt would like to send me a free crate of yogurt, I would happily accept!)
