Showing posts with the label toddler

If people were meant to run around naked, they wouldn't have been born wearing clothes.

It’s not often that you are sitting quietly on the couch watching the news, then find yourself confronted by a streaker wearing nothing but Doc Martins and a smile. Well, not every night, anyway.

The positive thing about the sceptic is that he considers everything possible

No bile and venting today, despite another night's interrupted sleep, it has been a pretty good day thus far. Henry and I mastered a number of new bits of playground equipment, and Ezra slept. Note the little snick on Ezra's eyebrow there, courtesy of a stinging right jab from his brother. He still hasn't mastered the art of keeping the gloves up at all times. He'll learn. So yesterday was the day that Ezra and Henry finally matched up. That is, Ez arrived nineteen days earlier than his due date, and Hen was twelve days overdue. Although I am skeptical about the lack of scientific rigidity that informs due dates, it struck Jen and I as an appropriate time to reconsider the differentials in size between the imperial toddler and his little brother. And wouldn't you know it, the big weigh in confirmed that Ezra is exactly the same weight as Henry at birth. It seems that the non-stop eating has done him good, gaining one-and-a-half kilos since birth. Time will tell whet...

Az men lebt, erleybt men

You may have noticed that I have dropped the (My) Photo of the day lead from the header here on in. I will continue to post a photo each day, but figured that it was now redundant. I will just be running with titles from here on in. If you are only interested in the photos though, they can all be accessed by clicking on the " dailyphoto " tag at the foot of each post. Yes, it is another Henry post. People seem to like them, so I just keep running them. This one was taken last night, seconds after I exited the shower and left His Royal Highness to splash about like a mini Idi Amin in his palace. If someone had have told me fifteen years ago that most evenings I would be in the shower lining up pairs of zebras, crocodiles, koalas, rhinos, giraffes and lions with a three foot high tornado with dictatorial tendencies, I would have laughed right in their face. Don’t I look foolish now?

Henry = Marilyn Monroe

This video is solely for the Henry fans out there. He is doing his Marilyn Monroe impression, with a raisin standing in the place of a beauty spot (which sounds so much nicer than 'mole').

(My) photo of the day

Due to popular demand, this weekend will be a Henry triple feature! To mix things up though, I have gone with a Before & After/Then & Now theme. So, the first photo you can see Henry (and his mum) at five days old. You know that they're young when the nappy looks that big on them. The second photo was taken in the city today, where Henry is a whopping 559 days old! He looks a little bigger than he does in exhibit A.

(My) photo of the day

There is no need to go to work today because it's Good Friday, so I've dug into the thousands of photos we've taken over the past year to find one to put on the blog that might reflect life in Hobart. I've chosen this one taken in November, on a warm Saturday afternoon spent shifting a very large pile of rocks from one side of our garden to another, only then to decide that I didn't like the way it looked and shifting them back again. All great fun, I can assure you. Anyway, Henry spent most of the time in a observational capacity, offering a little advice here and there. I offered him the shovel to help out, and took this picture of him contemplating a life of manual labour. I think that it was at this point he decided that 'benevolent dictator' might be more up his alley!
