Christmas is kind of like this great big kick arse slide. You spent an eternity toiling away to get to the top, look around you and think about how great it's going to be. Then you hop on, and WHOOOSH, you're done. You dust the pine bark off, wonder what all the fuss was about, sigh and set about climbing back up.
Ezra has a seeming insatiable desire to climb. They say that the most famous three words in mountaineering can be attributed to George Mallory, in his response to a reporter's question as to why on Earth he wanted to climb Mount Everest. I expect that Ez would say the same. Because it's there.
I do believe that Master Ezra is of simian stock. A natural born climber, he’ll endeavour to get to the top of whatever it is you put in front of him. However , his skills seem to stop at the pinnacle part of the ascending stage. For some reason, as good as he is at getting up there , he’s not so great on the descent. Cue father struggling in amongst ropes, tree limbs, small children getting the pocket-sized mountaineer back down…
Black Bart Roberts, Stede Bonnet, Sir Francis Drake, William Kidd, Blackbeard, Calico Jack, Redbeard, Jean Lafitte, Henry Morgan and John Hawkins eat your heart out!
Part monkey, part pirate; Ezra has been practicing his scaling of the rope ladder (with cutlass tucked down the back of the pants), before he ships out to the Somalian coast...
On our way up Mount Wellington. August 2010. Yesterday morning, we all headed up Mount Wellington to frolic in the snow. If you stay tuned thought the day, you'll see some pics of the journey!
