I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse.

When Ez puts his serious voice on, everybody pays attention.

I'm posting this in honour of his achievement last night of sleeping through the entire night for the very first time.

What makes this feat even more special is the fact that a certain wandering toddler managed to set the clock radio in Ez's room off to ring out at midnight. Bear in mind that the hideous BEEP! ... BEEP! ... BEEP! ... BEEP! ... BEEP! ... noise loud enough to wake me up on the other side of the house. With one bedroom door closed shut. And another as good as closed.

Yet in the bedroom, there lay one little baby soundly asleep.

The same baby who has woken up when I've gently cleared my throat three rooms away previously.

I can't explain it either.

Obviously it must have been all the bourbons you bought him at the pub the picture was taken at!!!

Seriously, though...congratulations! A wonderful achievement!

Now let's see if he can string about twenty years of sleeping through the night together!

Awesome photos of the lil darlings and your witty penmanship are the reason why i come to your blog everyday.

But I want to know what is keeping you away from the Delhi blog?

funny story ! The first entire night of Ezra , great ! The nights were what i found the most difficult to assume ... I hope next time you won't have a certain BEEP at midnight ;)

Sue, two nights running now. I’m happy with that!

And it wasn’t a pub, it was an upmarket fish ‘n chip joint. You should have seen Henry scoffing down the squid, scallops and chips.

Priyanka, well, it is not just Delhi that I am shamefully not commenting on. Work and kiddies keep me busy. I do read the posts through RSS feeds, but increasingly in the evening when I am too buggered to think of something to say!

I will make an effort this weekend and do the rounds.

Babzy, the odd thing is that Jen is up all night worried that he is dead/in difficulty with a surfeit of milk!
Baino said…
Haha . . that's one determined look on his face, were you withholding chippies? Don't worry, before too long, you'll be poking both boys at 11am to get them to wake up!
Kris McCracken said…
Baino, no, but we moved the salt and pepper beyond his grasp!

This is such a nice, classical shot - I can't express the qualities that this photo has because of language barrier, but I can say that this photo would become a masterpiece or a piece of antiquity in the future generations.

i'm so jealous in a retrospective kind of way. not one of mine slept through in under twelve months. i never slept a full night for four years. i must have been much stronger then. or much crankier.
poor jen will adjust but until then it is a mite uncomfortable.

bravo ez!!
Kitty said…
wow. Congrats!
I'm glad for the both of you.
Kris McCracken said…
KL, maybe someone wants to buy it…? ;)

Kylie, swings and roundabouts I guess. Henry gave us hell for ten or so months, but when it finally clicked (with a bit of work from our end), he has turned into an excellent sleeper.
Kris McCracken said…
Kitty, and yet for some reason I am incredibly tired today!
Sue said…
Silly me...I saw the 'Order drinks here' sign and just assumed Ez was gonna have an alcopop (especially now the tax is off them)!
That sounds quite a yummy fish 'n' chippie shop...I suddenly have a craving for calamari!

Ah, lucky parents! (love that certain toddler -- hee-hee...hee-hee.)

Sue, no vodka cruisers for my lads, they're teetotallers!

It's not a bad shop, but the Paris Hilton wannabe on the till needed reminding that she works in a fast food joint, so the attitude was slightly out of place.
Kris McCracken said…
Tash, that certain toddler can be a menace!
Kris McCracken said…
Blackie, two nights running!

Did you enjoy the Lisa Singh puff piece in the paper today? That poor girl has been through hell and back...

Ez looks like he means serious business though Jen looks more amused.
Thanks for posting such thoughtful pictures.

This photo is sublime! Truly a genius in the works.
Kris McCracken said…
Yamini, he slammed his palms down on the table rather forcefully just before I took the photo. It shut the whole joint up!
Kris McCracken said…
Elaine, there can be no doubt about that!

You can't achieve anything by selling :-D. Ask your grandchildren to sell and they will really earn a lot because of everything that the photo has. I think Elaine said it perfectly. :-)

KL, I'd dearly love to retire now if possible!

If you want to be loved, be lovable.

Henry admires the view.

Zeal, n. A certain nervous disorder afflicting the young and inexperienced. A passion that goeth before a sprawl.

Here I have tried my hand at the homemade sepia-toned photo. I wasn’t happy with the way that the sun had washed out some of the colours in the original, so had a bit of a fiddle because I like the look on Henry’s face, and didn’t want to pass on posting it. I have a tip for those of you burdened with the great, unceasing weight of parenthood. I have a new recipe, in the vein of the quick microwaved chocolate cake . Get this, microwaved potato chips . I gave them a run on Sunday, Henry liked the so much I did it again last night. Tonight, I shall be experimenting with sweet potato. I think that the ground is open for me to exploit opportunities in the swede, turnip, carrot and maybe even explore in the area of pumpkins. Radical, I know. I’m a boundary-pusher by nature. It's pretty simple, take the potato. Slice it thinly (it doesn't have to be too thin, but thin enough). Lay the slices on the microwave plate, whack a bit of salt over the top and nuke the buggers for five minut

Ah, Joe, you never knew the whole of it...

I still have the robot on the job. Here you can see the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery . And here is a poem: Soliloquy for One Dead Bruce Dawe Ah, no, Joe, you never knew the whole of it, the whistling which is only the wind in the chimney's smoking belly, the footsteps on the muddy path that are always somebody else's. I think of your limbs down there, softly becoming mineral, the life of grasses, and the old love of you thrusts the tears up into my eyes, with the family aware and looking everywhere else. Sometimes when summer is over the land, when the heat quickens the deaf timbers, and birds are thick in the plumbs again, my heart sickens, Joe, calling for the water of your voice and the gone agony of your nearness. I try hard to forget, saying: If God wills, it must be so, because of His goodness, because- but the grasshopper memory leaps in the long thicket, knowing no ease. Ah, Joe, you never knew the whole of it... I like Bruce Dawe. He just my be my favourite Austral
