What's in a name? That which we call a rose. By any other name would smell as sweet.

So we went to the beach yesterday. It was a bit overcast, and a bit too cold to swim (unless you're a Great White Shark). That didn't stop Henry demonstrate his superior penmanship in the sand.

I got plenty of photos, so expect to be drip fed over the next few days.

Someday that will be Henry's penmanship.
Funny, just yesterday my Dean (5) and I were writing in the wet sand of the Mediterranean .
We wait for more of your beach pics.
It's nice to see how proud you are as a parent. Surely when Henry wrote his name you have to clean the viewfinder of you camera (that is dampened).
The photo is very good framed.

Henry has plumber's crack. He's very 'neat' for a littlun

Absolutely don't mind. You won't be able to satisfy us no matter how much you try feeding us :-P. Nice photo.

Babzy, I like that you can write it over and over and over for seven miles if you like (on THIS beach).

Dina, how is Dean enjoying Israel?

MDP, between you, me (and the gatepost), Henry had a little bit of help...

Tash, it's coming!

Baino, for a long time, Henry's bum crack was crooked. It appears to be straightening as he gets older.

KL, you're like Steve Waugh and Henry, "never satisfied"!

Way to go Henry!!!! and we are waiting for more.....
Kris McCracken said…
Yamini, he should have written "...loves Kris".

what self obsession on your part Kris!!!! But i can understand. I mean who wouldn't want to be loved by a dashing, dynamic lad like Dear Henry? :))

Hmmm...was he really that sort of captain - never satisfied? I have heard Imran Khan was also like that. But then perhaps it was good. Wasn't Australian team unbeatable under Waugh's captaincy? Not sure about all these stats though, but heard or read something like that. And, that's why Ponting gets compared to Waugh all the time and then gets criticized.

Yamini, not obsession, merely due respect!

KL, his book was called "never satisfied", and he claimed that it was his mantra.

Dean is having fun here, Kris.
He says he wants to marry me and live with me forever. Aren't little boys supposed to say that to Mum and not to grandma??

I enjoyed perusing your posts today. The kid/wife ones are great.

Dina, I ask Henry to marry me all the time, and he always says "NO!"

If you want to be loved, be lovable.

Henry admires the view.

Zeal, n. A certain nervous disorder afflicting the young and inexperienced. A passion that goeth before a sprawl.

Here I have tried my hand at the homemade sepia-toned photo. I wasn’t happy with the way that the sun had washed out some of the colours in the original, so had a bit of a fiddle because I like the look on Henry’s face, and didn’t want to pass on posting it. I have a tip for those of you burdened with the great, unceasing weight of parenthood. I have a new recipe, in the vein of the quick microwaved chocolate cake . Get this, microwaved potato chips . I gave them a run on Sunday, Henry liked the so much I did it again last night. Tonight, I shall be experimenting with sweet potato. I think that the ground is open for me to exploit opportunities in the swede, turnip, carrot and maybe even explore in the area of pumpkins. Radical, I know. I’m a boundary-pusher by nature. It's pretty simple, take the potato. Slice it thinly (it doesn't have to be too thin, but thin enough). Lay the slices on the microwave plate, whack a bit of salt over the top and nuke the buggers for five minut

Ah, Joe, you never knew the whole of it...

I still have the robot on the job. Here you can see the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery . And here is a poem: Soliloquy for One Dead Bruce Dawe Ah, no, Joe, you never knew the whole of it, the whistling which is only the wind in the chimney's smoking belly, the footsteps on the muddy path that are always somebody else's. I think of your limbs down there, softly becoming mineral, the life of grasses, and the old love of you thrusts the tears up into my eyes, with the family aware and looking everywhere else. Sometimes when summer is over the land, when the heat quickens the deaf timbers, and birds are thick in the plumbs again, my heart sickens, Joe, calling for the water of your voice and the gone agony of your nearness. I try hard to forget, saying: If God wills, it must be so, because of His goodness, because- but the grasshopper memory leaps in the long thicket, knowing no ease. Ah, Joe, you never knew the whole of it... I like Bruce Dawe. He just my be my favourite Austral
