All things truly wicked start from an innocence.

Here is the little la terreur de la nuit himself, going through his rigorous regimen of calisthenics, aerobics, tai chi and yoga. He generally spends a good few hours a day working on his strength and his stamina. He is a firm believer in the maxim of a healthy mind and a healthy body, and is a young man not to be reckoned with.

Last night, Jennifer and I found out just how effective the diminutive warrior’s stratagem of looking innocent but plotting anarchy is when backed up by exceptional physical and mental capabilities. The sheer force of will to scream, wail and generally carry on had us both up and down throughout the long and brutal hours of darkness. I don’t believe that his machinations and manoeuvrings are part of a broader plot to attempt a putsch – as I suspect the case to be with dear Henry – but I think that Ezra is attempting a more complex, multifarious form of psychological warfare.

The intentions of this subterfuge is beyond my tired and feeble mind, which in its very self I am increasingly considering to be a crucial facet of his approach. If I were not so tired, I’d be ever so proud of the lad. He has left me a broken shell of a man today.

Well done Ezra!

Why do they cry during night when throughout the morning they are so happy? Maybe the darkness creeps them out??

I have a question: are Australian teenagers and younger people very materialistic (that is they need to have designer clothes and the latest gadgets, etc; they think money, fame, materialism, etc are the way of life, etc)? I am trying to find all these out regarding all the cultures. Danke.

ear infections can do it every time, as well as bad dreams, lonliness, or who knows what else. I caved and just brought them to bed none of us seem worse for wear now and it sure was helpful in getting sleep.

good thing they are so cute when they are young...don't all types of animals eat their young? Maybe only the ugly ones?

Lies all of it. Look at those baby blues! I'm sure you're making it all up! (hmm . ..I bet that's what they said about Hitler)

KL, teens vary I guess. They do strike me as being more materialistic than the past, and more concerned with appearences as well. The amount of young men with designer haircuts and "this seasons clothes" astounds me, as there seemed very very few young men/boys who followed fashion trends when I was a teenager (1990-97). It was always considered a bit sad.

Clearly that is no longer the case.

Colette, we he was a bit better last night, and he didn't sound as blocked up this morning...

Baino, Ezra is very good 95% of the time. That's a pretty good ratio for a baby.

Babies comes with an in-built self-defence mechanism that renders them so cute during the day that you don't do unspeakable things to them when they interrupt your sleep for the 15th time.

Lost inside an adorable illusion and I cannot hide, I'm the one you're using, please don't push me aside, we could've made it cruising, yeah.

Yes it is Theme Thusday again, and today we are talking GLASS . I've three possible hooks to hang my [glass] hat on with this theme. First, the photo! Yes, it is the river again from an odd angle in an interesting light. You can just make out the bottom, which should tell you that I'm right on the shore. In some ways, the distortion of the stones below the surface reminds me of ye olde glass windows, what they call "cylinder blown sheet glass". You can still find some of this around Hobart these days. Thw second link comes from a trip I took to Venice a few years back. You're probably aware that Venice was (is?) a glass-making centre of excellence. If you have ever been there and taken the tour of the glass factories, you might be familiar with the sheer amount of coloured glass that sits at the bottom of the water there. These fragments of glass have been worn down and had their edges dulled by their time in the water, which makes them ample keepsakes for the ...

Hold me now, oh hold me now, until this hour has gone around. And I'm gone on the rising tide, to face Van Dieman's Land

Theme Thursday again, and this one is rather easy. I am Tasmanian, you see, and aside from being all around general geniuses - as I have amply described previously - we are also very familiar with the concept of WATER. Tasmania is the ONLY island state of an ISLAND continent. That means, we're surrounded by WATER. That should help explain why I take so many photographs of water . Tasmania was for a long time the place where the British (an island race terrified of water) sent their poor people most vile and horrid criminals. The sort of folk who would face the stark choice of a death sentence , or transportation to the other end of the world. Their catalogue of crimes is horrifying : stealing bread assault stealing gentlemen's handkerchiefs drunken assault being poor affray ladies being overly friendly with gentlemen for money hitting people having a drink and a laugh public drunkenness being Irish Fenian terrorist activities being Catholic religious subversion. ...

Happy anniversary baby, got you on my mind

No it is not a webcam, but this photograph was taken a mere forty-five ago on my way in to work. Here you can see a good old fashioned Hobart autumn morning, with the rain pelting down and me getting drenched. This one was taken on the corner of Macquarie and Elizabeth, while I was waiting for the lights to change. Come on Ampelmännchen ! Today is my wedding anniversary, an apparently I need to be showering Jen with leather -related goodies. Va-va-vaVOOM! To you Jennifer, here is a poem I wrote this very morning. Anniversary I love you i love you iloveyouiloveyouiloveyou I LOVE you I love YOU iloveyouiloveyouiloveyou I LOVE YOU iloveyouiloveyouiloveyou Happy anniversary
