Nothing prevents happiness like the memory of happiness.

What cruel, inhuman, rotten scoundrel devised this week’s Theme Thursday topic?

One cannot express the dismay that accompanies writing a post about SUMMER, when it has been relentlessly raining for the past three hours.

Oh yes, I shall write about summer, shall I?

I'll write about summer when it’s dark when I leave for work, and it’s dark when I come home from work.

I'll write about summer when it’s freezing in the morning waiting at the bus stop, and it is freezing when I wait at the bus stop to get home from work.

I'll write about summer when it’s been raining when I leave home for work, it’s raining when I get home from work.

I'll write about summer when the fact is that I hate work.

I'll write about summer when, in their infinite wisdom, Metro Tasmania have decided that WINTER would be a good time to dick around with the bus routes to Hobart’s eastern shore, which entails standing around for extended periods – exposed to the dark, cold and rainy elements – wondering if a bus will come along soon.

So you want me to write about SUMMER do you?

BAH!

The best that I can do is a photo of a bloke in a kayak paddling past the Aurora Australis. The reflection from the orange sun give off the illusion that it is warmer than it actually is.

Oh Kris! This rain is draining away your summer fun! May the sun shine brightly in your neck of the world VERY soon!

Jill, for the record, it has been non-stop pelting down for the past five hours.

ha.

I love the huge orange background. What a bold color and fellow!

I know the feeling. Over on this side of the planet, it's been dreary too. Enough!

Whoa!!!!! Someone's not happy!!!!

I read somewhere the other day: "There is no bad season, only different forms of good season."
Kris McCracken said…
Kitty, it would be easy to spot amongst the ice flows down in Antarctica, I am sure.

What the penguins make of it is unknown.

Yamini, my office has sprung a leak as well!

What a great photo! IT is just sooooo Great. Maybe blowing it up and placing over the office window might help.

I would do anything for rains and winter right now. I hate the scorching summer that is hell-bent to take my life.

wanna trade places?

Sorry, I grew up in Penguin, we don't do summer...summer for us was the 1ne day a year it was warm enough to get Melbourne TV...

Come on Kris, it could be worse. You could be here sitting over a hot notebook computer which gives little shocks due to my damp wrists, here near Jerusalem with 35 degrees C and 20% humidity and no airconditioning, with no rain for a whole half year dry season.

Your photo is very dramatic! Great.

My son my heart bleeds for you. I don't believe I have ever hated a job. Dislike maybe? Whenever that happened I went out and got another one. Perhaps not being so well educated played a large part in my ability to change. When asked what I could do my answer was whatever you want of me. I can learn. Thirty nine years in a job that at times has driven me to the point of despair, but I am still there. Perhaps you should have stayed with your first choice of journalism. Who knows! You now have your family to consider. I wish you all the luck I can muster.

Feel your pain possum. Yours in darklit drudgery!

Oh but only a couple of months and we wreak our revenge on those smug northerners!

Five hours! Do you think that Noah may have despaired at some stage during the forty days and forty nights. The positive is that eventually it will stop, and out will come the sun. You know, I still like the sound of rain. Heat I can't escape. Accept what is, as change is nigh impossible.

There's a line in the song "A Rainy Night in Georgia" that says, "I believe that it's raining all over the world." Judging from all the TT posts, which DO come from all over the world, it seems to be true.

Great post, and a great photo to accompany it!

Well, could you please tell me what rain looks like, I do not mean the little drizzle things, but real rain drops. This drought we have been having for years and rain dances or not no rain. Who ticked Mother Nature off, That's what I want to know. Please enjoy you rain, we would gladly take it from you. But she won't give it to us easily. Gonna go do another rain dance and see if that works.

But I do hope that all goes well for you in that you get some sunshine. SOON.

God bless.

Kris, feel not under the weather too much. We've finally had a let-up after almost four days. And now the weather service is predicting more. But it's the blasted confinement one find's oneself in. Can't do any thing summery, wot?

Tash, outside my window today is someone using an angle grinder.
Kris McCracken said…
Miles, poor old Penguin. At least the big concrete penguin was around to warm your heart...

Roddy, journalism?
