Like all weak men he laid an exaggerated stress on not changing one's mind.

One day people will come and wonder what all of this was about. Footpath leading onto the Tasman Highway, Hobart. June 2012.

I suspect (hope?) that we are nearing the end of this marathon series of Q and A stolen from Sunday Stealing, the ominous Imaginary Meme, Part Six!

101. Name 4 things you always have with you.
i) Watch, ii) wallet, iii) keys, iv) phone. More often than not, I also have v) camera and vi) book.

102. How many SERIOUS ex-girlfriends/ boyfriends/ significant others do you have?
None.

103. What causes you to you admire people?
Anyone who manages to combine half a brain with integrity always warrants my admiration.

104. Do you like sports?
I do.

105. Would you have sex after marriage? Why or why not?
What an odd question. I can only presume that they mean ‘before’ rather than after, although it seems that there is often a correlation between post-marriage/ decline in sexual congress. As for sex before marriage: why ever not?

106. What is your favourite male name?
It’s a toss-up between ‘Henry’ and ‘Ezra’.

107. Do animals go to Heaven?
There is no such place, so how could they go there?

108. Last time you had a great time with your dad?
The trip to Bonorong Wildlife Park was fun.

109. What is your favourite hair style?
If you believe some people, it must the the floppy foppish Hugh Grant mid-90s cut.

110. Do you like your name?
Not much.

111. When was the last time that you quit your job?
A year ago. Fingers crossed, you never know...

112. When you wake up, what is the first thing you think?
“Oh Christ. Here we go again.”

113. Have you ever pulled an all-niter?
Not for a long time.

114. What is the perfect day for you?
Blue sky, sunshine, nice things to look at. A bit of peace and quiet. I have simple tastes.

115. Last time you cleaned the bathroom?
I more do it as I go, rather than set aside one big session.

116. Have you ever failed a grade? Why?
I’ve not really failed, as such. I have certainly failed to maximise my potential though...

117. Have you met anyone online?
I’ve met lots of people online.

118. Have you ever smoked?
Not cigarettes, no.

119. Do you like celebrities?
Not because they are celebrities, no. I don’t find them particularly interesting.

120. Do you like travelling?
Within reason. Although it does depend on the weather, the company you keep and the state of your bank balance.

Lost inside an adorable illusion and I cannot hide, I'm the one you're using, please don't push me aside, we could've made it cruising, yeah.

Yes it is Theme Thusday again, and today we are talking GLASS . I've three possible hooks to hang my [glass] hat on with this theme. First, the photo! Yes, it is the river again from an odd angle in an interesting light. You can just make out the bottom, which should tell you that I'm right on the shore. In some ways, the distortion of the stones below the surface reminds me of ye olde glass windows, what they call "cylinder blown sheet glass". You can still find some of this around Hobart these days. Thw second link comes from a trip I took to Venice a few years back. You're probably aware that Venice was (is?) a glass-making centre of excellence. If you have ever been there and taken the tour of the glass factories, you might be familiar with the sheer amount of coloured glass that sits at the bottom of the water there. These fragments of glass have been worn down and had their edges dulled by their time in the water, which makes them ample keepsakes for the ...

Hold me now, oh hold me now, until this hour has gone around. And I'm gone on the rising tide, to face Van Dieman's Land

Theme Thursday again, and this one is rather easy. I am Tasmanian, you see, and aside from being all around general geniuses - as I have amply described previously - we are also very familiar with the concept of WATER. Tasmania is the ONLY island state of an ISLAND continent. That means, we're surrounded by WATER. That should help explain why I take so many photographs of water . Tasmania was for a long time the place where the British (an island race terrified of water) sent their poor people most vile and horrid criminals. The sort of folk who would face the stark choice of a death sentence , or transportation to the other end of the world. Their catalogue of crimes is horrifying : stealing bread assault stealing gentlemen's handkerchiefs drunken assault being poor affray ladies being overly friendly with gentlemen for money hitting people having a drink and a laugh public drunkenness being Irish Fenian terrorist activities being Catholic religious subversion. ...

Happy anniversary baby, got you on my mind

No it is not a webcam, but this photograph was taken a mere forty-five ago on my way in to work. Here you can see a good old fashioned Hobart autumn morning, with the rain pelting down and me getting drenched. This one was taken on the corner of Macquarie and Elizabeth, while I was waiting for the lights to change. Come on Ampelmännchen ! Today is my wedding anniversary, an apparently I need to be showering Jen with leather -related goodies. Va-va-vaVOOM! To you Jennifer, here is a poem I wrote this very morning. Anniversary I love you i love you iloveyouiloveyouiloveyou I LOVE you I love YOU iloveyouiloveyouiloveyou I LOVE YOU iloveyouiloveyouiloveyou Happy anniversary
