God give me back the day joined this blood sucking unit who are never satisfied.

The rigging of a sailing ship presents ample opportunities for photographs. I like this one because I've not used any filters, it's just the colour of that morning. The heavy mist enabled me to take the image looking directly at the sun (bottom centre), and also cast an interesting hue. Also, it's ANZAC Day again. (My) photo of the day

Just to emphasise how flat I am feeling today, here is a photo taken just after being decked by my eighteen month old son. He so convincingly won the tussle that he turned his back on me with utter contempt the moment I hit the canvas! Neither of us displayed the ANZAC spirit today. The fact that he currently sits in the 97th percentile in height (that is, taller than all but 3% of littlies) and the 90th percentile in weight (heavier than all but 10%), is impressive, but doesn't make me feel any better about the dismal loss.

ANZAC Day

Every year people just get sillier and sillier here in Australia in the lead up to ANZAC Day . I had hope that with John Howard out of office, we might be able to just calm down a little when it comes to ANZAC Day, but it seems not. This year there has been yet another kerfuffle, with the Australian Capital Territory Government has been accused of "delivering a massive insult" to 'Diggers' (veterens), with plans to launch dozens of hot-air balloons over the capital on Anzac Day. Here is poor old Brendy (Federal Opposition Leader Brendan Nelson), who likened the tale to an April Fool's Day joke: "Our attitude is that Anzac Day is a day of commemoration of sacrifice made in our name, not a day for celebration. You can never underestimate the stupidity of the ACT Government when it comes to these kinds of events."
