My unconscious knows more about the consciousness of the psychologist than his consciousness knows about my unconscious.

Ezra the convict. Historic Coal Mines Site, Saltwater River. August 2013. Murder on the Orient Express , Agatha Christie: This book moves along beautifully - as the best Agatha Christie novel do. Moreover, even though this one has become a clichéd trope referenced by everyone from The Simpsons to the Muppets, it remains as fresh and surprising as ever. Someone has been murdered. The victim is not very nice. The murder took place on The Orient Express while stranded in a snow drift. There is a colourful array of characters, all of whom are suspect is varied and unusual. Hercule Poirot just happens to be on the train and the solution to the mystery is a pure head scratcher. Well worth your time. B . Henry on the ferry. Bruny Island. September 2013.

A thing may happen and be a total lie; another thing may not happen and be truer than the truth.

Friars Rock. Bruny Island, Tasmania. September 2013. Okay, an announcement. I've got 4,420 posts on this here blog. Posts have been pretty consistent since the end of 2007. But I'm bored. Otherwise it will be a bit more sporadic. All is not lost though, you can still Track my books on Goodreads . See my photos on Flickr . Watch my videos on YouTube . Link in on LinkedIn . Check out my pinboards on Pinterest . Tweet me on Twitter . Check the blog too, you never know when I might desire to share a poem or a Drabble...

Once something becomes discernible, or understandable, we no longer need to repeat it. We can destroy it.

Big Ezra spots some stairs and sets about climbing. First he climbs up. Then he climbs down. Then he climbs up. Then he runs down. Then he runs up. Then he asks to be carried down.

It is better not to express what one means than to express what one does not mean.

Yes. I remember Adlestrop—

Australian Fur Seals. Friars Rock, Bruny Island. September 2013. The seals smelled like squid poo. Not the squid of a poo, but squid-flavoured poo. Some people don't like it all that much, but I didn't mind. I've smelled worse. Adlestrop , Edward Thomas Yes. I remember Adlestrop— The name, because one afternoon Of heat the express-train drew up there Unwontedly. It was late June. The steam hissed. Someone cleared his throat. No one left and no one came On the bare platform. What I saw Was Adlestrop—only the name And willows, willow-herb, and grass, And meadowsweet, and haycocks dry, No whit less still and lonely fair Than the high cloudlets in the sky. And for that minute a blackbird sang Close by, and round him, mistier, Farther and farther, all the birds Of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.

If you want the present to be different from the past, study the past.
