The moral of that is: ‘the more there is of mine, the less there is of yours’.

Oh Henry, what big EYES you have...

Tasteful? Hunter Street, Hobart. June 2012. This one was spotted right out the front of Hobart's Art School. Seriously, it was. Tenebrae , Paul Celan We are near, Lord, near and at hand. Handled already, Lord, clawed and clawing as though the body of each of us were your body, Lord. Pray, Lord, pray to us, we are near. Wind-awry we went there, went there to bend over hollow and ditch. To be watered we went there, Lord. It was blood, it was what you shed, Lord. It gleamed. It cast your image into our eyes, Lord. Our eyes and our mouths are open and empty, Lord. We have drunk, Lord. The blood and the image that was in the blood, Lord. Pray, Lord. We are near.

It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.

He goes up. He goes down. He goes up. He goes down. He goes up. He goes down. He goes up. He goes down. He goes up. He goes down. He goes up. He goes off.

Writing is not necessarily something to be ashamed of, but do it in private and wash your hands afterwards.

The view east over Hobart. From Mount Wellington. May 2012. In the spirit of today's first book, I'm going to keep these reviews brief! One Minute Stories by István Örkény. Örkény's work is obviously an acquired taste. A little too bitter for my palate. Nightwood , Djuna Barnes. Seemingly a classic in lesbian fiction. That might explain why this non-lesbian didn't enjoy this at all. Are they making love or arranging flowers? I certainly couldn't tell... Waiting for the Barbarians , J.M. Coetzee. Fantastic stuff. This parable is universal, and just (if not more) relevant today than it was when first written. Really great stuff! The view nor' nor' east over Hobart. From Mount Wellington. May 2012.

Maybe all one can do is hope to end up with the right regrets.

Well said Henry. I could not agree more.

Zen does not confuse spirituality with thinking about God while one is peeling potatoes. Zen spirituality is just to peel the potatoes.

Good advice? The Lindisfarne/ Geilston Bay border, East Derwent Highway. June 2012. Theme Thursday and I'm set for an all day series of meetings. All that I can say is, ' We made of BEDS, now we have to lie in them!"

It is a wise man who knows where courage ends and stupidity begins.

Someone has stolen his artillery piece!

Nothing doth more hurt in a state than that cunning men pass for wise.

Heading home. East Derwent Highway, Geilston Bay. June 2012. Wordless Wednesday. Nearly there. East Derwent Highway, Geilston Bay. June 2012.

For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.

Don't do it!!!

Contrariwise, if it was so, it might be; and if it were so, it would be; but as it isn't, it ain't. That's logic.

Ezra took this. Home, June 2012. Another Q and A which means another lot stolen from Sunday Stealing. This week, The Imaginary Meme, Part Three ! 41. Growing up, who was the easier mark: Mum or Dad? It really depended on the score. If pushed I’d have to say my mother because you could always get her to feel guilty about denying you something. My father was less easily coerced. 42. What is the stupidest pet that you ever saw? I have always found distasteful the pet that is kept as a pose. I remember a fellow who would walk around with a duck on a leash. He was an ‘artist’ (allegedly). 43. Tell us about a band whose every CD is a “must have”. That would be Wilco. 44. Were you surprised when Jim Parsons came out? [Just Googled Jim Parsons.] Well, he has a strong background in the theatre and seems to have rather thin lips, so I probably would not have surprised had I known who he was. 45. Have you ever shoplifted? Never. Never would either. 46. We currently have a per

A man must make his opportunity, as oft as find it.

Next stop, Antarctica!

A guilty conscience needs to confess. A work of art is a confession.

Early morning chess. Franklin Square, Hobart. June 2012. The Internet is a wonderful place filled with the rich and varied treasures of the world holds (blah blah blah). The following are some things that I've had a look at in the last week. I call this: a Compendium of Click-throughs for Monday Morning.. A lovely article on the value of procrastination, or what the game of tennis can teach us about decision making. ”There is both an art and a science to managing delay." . It's something we've become less skilled at in our high tech age... Here you are: http://www.slate.com/articles/life/design/2012/06/button_history_a_visual_tour_of_button_design_through_the_ages_.single.html">A history of the button. Sitting is killing you! I have always thought the actions of men the best interpreters of their thoughts.

Henry and Ezra face some hard decisions at the all you can eat buffet.

The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not.
