I would not know how I am supposed to feel about many stories if not for the fact that the TV news personalities make sad faces for sad stories and happy faces for happy stories.

Exploring the boundaries. Bellerive Beach, Bellerive. August 2013. collapse Have you ever clicked on an ad on the side of your screen by accident? I used an ad blocker, so not for a very long time. When was the last time you were disappointed?: I'm often disappointed! The everyday Australian disappoints me all the time. Do you like the smell of rain? I love the smell of rain. Especially in a rainforest or on a remote beach somewhere. What was the last thing you took a picture of? A shadow. When you go to McDonald's, what drink do you usually get? A bottle of water. What were you doing today at 2:15 in the afternoon? It isn't 2:15 pm yet. What I will be doing is boarding a bus to head over the river and pick up the kids. What's the nickname of your home state? One of the less cruel nicknames is The Apple Isle . What's the worst type of weather in your opinion? Grey, cold and unmemorable. I don't mind heavy rain or storms, or t...

If you are foolish enough to be contented, don't show it, but grumble with the rest.

Ezra, der Mann lebt an der Unterseite einer Klippe!

The only way to support a revolution is to make your own.

Hen. Jen. With bonus Ezra!

Great photography is always on the edge of failure.

Jen and Hen risk life and limb down on Opossum Bay...

It's an indulgence to sit in a room and discuss your beliefs as if they were a juicy piece of gossip.

All we need is some pan pipes, some schoolgirls in white, and a precariously balanced (but naturally occurring) solid aggregate of one or more minerals or mineraloids.

There's nothing sadder in this world than to awake Christmas morning and not be a child..

Jen leads Ezra a merry dance. Opossum Bay, South Arm Peninsula. December 2012. A very special Christmas Day Sunday Stealing: The Not So Manly Meme 1. Boxers? Briefs? Boxer briefs? Thongs? Bikinis? Commando? I'm on holidays, which means commando! 2. What’s your fussiest personal care routine? I can't say that I have one. Shaving is always a chore, but having a beard is worse. 3. Do you have a favourite tool? Power or manual? A computer. It uses power. 4. Can you change your own oil? Do you? I cook in fresh oil every time. That's what you mean, isn't it? 5. What’s the “manliest / womanliest” thing you do on a regular basis? Manliest? I get a slightly contemptuous feeling any time shows an undue level of emotion. 'Womanliest'? Do you mean 'effeminate'? The most insignificant people are the most apt to sneer at others. They are safe from reprisals.

Ezra carefully makes his way across the geological formations that you'll find around Bellerive Bluff.

This has always been a man's world, and none of the reasons that have been offered in explanation have seemed adequate.

They're still learning the fine art of climbing on wet rocks...

The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed.

After the exploits off all round annoying brat true blue dinky di Aussie hero™ Jessica Watson , I have commenced a rigorous A series of training drills for both Henry and Ezra, to prepare them for conquering the pole , on foot, unassisted and unaccompanied by adults! I figure that it is a sure-fire money spinner way to empower young Australians to reach their goals , live their dreams and overcome the scourge that is the obesity epidemic™. If you would like to support this worthy cause, please send cash. Plenty of it. Quickly.

Any idiot can face a crisis; it's day to day living that wears you out.

Inspired by the wealth of history contained with the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallary, Henry has decided that he wants to follow in the footsteps of the bloody idiots great Antarctic explorers of the early twentieth century. Consequently, I have fashioned him a sturdy yacht made out of an old bath, and will see him off next week. Godspeed, young man!

What is wanted is not the will to believe, but the wish to find out, which is the exact opposite

Two balloons, one little bloke with a plan. Dare he dream that one day he shall fly? Well, flying may be a bit further off, but this young man is now an excellent crawler, with an urge to explore all areas of the house. Dark rooms fear him not, nor cupboards, beds, toilets or washing machines. Indeed, he's already seen more of the laundry than many adults I can think of!

Wonder is the beginning of wisdom.

In many respects, Henry and Ezra have looked markedly different in each of their first year with us. Henry has always looked older than his age might suggest (the consequence of arrive a good three weeks late?), whereas Ez had more of the 'classic' baby features (basketball head anyone?). Yet as Ez enters into his tenth ( already ?!?) month outside the womb, and as his cheeks are filling out nicely, he is starting to resemble one Henrysaurus Rex , in both looks and temperament!
