Freedom can occur only through education.

The right pair of feet can be incredibly interesting.

Like every other good thing in this world, leisure and culture have to be paid for. However, it is not the leisured and the cultured who have to pay.

The end of the race. Victoria Esplanade, Bellerive. February 2012. Wordless Wednesday.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

Sometimes a seagull just knows. Geilston Bay Jetty, Geilston Bay. June 2011. Seagulls are fascinating birds. Essentially ground nesting carnivores, they are equally adept at catching their food the ‘traditional’ way (i.e. alive and kicking) or scavenging whatever they can find opportunistically. Live food often generally means crabs and small fish, scavenging food can be just about anything, although they have a distinct fondness for chips and the odd Chicko Roll.

It belongs to the imperfection of everything human that man can only attain his desire by passing through its opposite

A jetty and some boats. Dover (I think...). Southern Tasmania. June 2011. One of the challenges of taking photographs from a moving vehicle is remembering which town exactly the photo was taken. I'm pretty sure that this is Dover, Australia second most southern-most town. Any Dover-ites are more than welcome to correct me... That's the trouble with fleeting trips. The memory lags behind the event, and in order to fill in gaps, we develop a tendency to reconstruct events. Clearly the fleeting few seconds that we spent in Dover (or some other town), was not enough!

Show me a sane man and I will cure him for you.

Seagulls in congress. Geilston Bay, May 2010. I went down to the jetty back in May to discuss possible topics for the Sunday Top Five . Thankfully, we settled on an easy one: My Top Five Ten ELEVEN Soccer Players' Names ! Laughter Chilembe Suprise Moriri Have-A-Look Dube Danger Fourpence Creedence Clearwater Couto Segar Bastard Norman Conquest Bongo Christ Wolfgang Wolf Argelico Fucks Harry Daft Now, between you me and the seagulls, which do YOU like best?

I have an existential map. It has 'You are here' written all over it.

You'll note that the jetty you see before you here is the very same jetty in the blog header! Amazing! The jetty can be found here on the eastern shore, right on the edge of Bellerive. It may or may not be true that this very jetty was used as the home base of the Great Penguin Hunt of 1882 , where over twenty-seven million fairy penguins were captured and processed into crumbed morsels passed off as chicken nuggets.
