Frühlingsglaube

Its bark is worse than its bite. Shag Bay, Geilston Bay. August 2013. Ein schönes Gedicht, obwohl meine Füße wund sind. Frühlingsglaube ( Faith in Spring ), Ludwig Uhland The gentle winds are awakened, They murmur and waft day and night, They create in every corner. Oh fresh scent, oh new sound! Now, poor dear, fear not! Now everything, everything must change. The world becomes more beautiful with each day, One does not know what may yet happen, The blooming doesn't want to end. The farthest, deepest valley blooms: Now, poor dear, forget the pain! Now everything, everything must change.

Idleness is the beginning of all vice, the crown of all virtues.

Hey kid rock and roll, rock on .

You have no respect for excessive authority or obsolete traditions. You're dangerous and depraved, and you ought to be taken outside and shot!

Machine gun or electric guitar? You decide!

Imagination and fiction make up more than three quarters of our real life.

Picnic at hanging quite secure rock.

Anyone who says he can see through women is missing a lot.

More old boilers!

One who is too insistent on his own views, finds few to agree with him.

Hopefully this is the last old boiler that Ezra climbs on top of. [Ahem.] ... I'll get my coat.

Feeling unique is no indication of uniqueness.

Jen and Ez shooting the breeze. On a very old blown up boiler.

That it will never come again is what makes life sweet.

What's Ezra doing out there?

I love living. I have some problems with my life, but living is the best thing they've come up with so far.

Ezra and I (in shadow). Geilston Bay Road, Geilston Bay. April 2013. This week sees me stealing another series from Sunday Stealing: The Meme From Memphis (part two) . Have any memories that you’d like to forget? One or two. Is there someone you really like to hang out with and just talk about stuff? There's a couple. Have you ever been called prince or princess? Only in jest. Do you think teenagers are weird? No weirder than anyone else. How fast does your mood change? It has been known to turn on a five cent coin. How are you feeling? Pretty ordinary. Do you want someone to call you right now? Not particularly. What do you always take with you? A camera. Is your bed comfortable? Indeed it is! Would you say you’re an understanding person? I am capable of great understanding, but do have a firm sense of right and wrong. Are you generally a happy person? I make some effort to be. I think that I've been at my happiest over the past couple of y...

we / do not admire what / we cannot understand

Australian Hobby Falcon, Shag Bay. April 2013. The Australian Hobby [ Falco longipennis ] resembles the Peregrine Falcon, however it is much smaller and has darker plumage. It's a nippy little bugger, and can swiftly weave through the bush in chase of other birds. I've not seen too many around these parts, but this one happily sat in the tree for Ez and I to have a good gander at it. Poetry , Marianne Moore I, too, dislike it: there are things that are important beyond all this fiddle. Reading it, however, with a perfect contempt for it, one discovers in it after all, a place for the genuine. Hands that can grasp, eyes that can dilate, hair that can rise if it must, these things are important not because a high-sounding interpretation can be put upon them but because they are useful. When they become so derivative as to become unintelligible, the same thing may be said for all of us, that we do...

I think it's a mistake to ever look for hope outside of one's self.

Australian Hobby Falcon, or Falco longipennis . Shag Bay, Geilston Bay. April 2013. My apologies. Maybe next week...

If you don't change, then what's the point of anything happening to you?

Old boilers. Shag Bay, January 2013. Sunday Stealing: The Basically Obscure Meme-Part 2 21: Would you swear in front of your parents? Habitually. 22: Which continents have you been on? Australia, Asia (briefly) and Europe. 23: Do you get motion sickness? Any horror stories? I was seasick once. It was 1988. Very rough weather. 24: Why did you name your blog whatever you named your blog? Because it is true. 25: Would you wear a rainbow jacket? A neon yellow sweater? Checked pants? None of the above. 26: What was your favourite cartoon growing up? Post a picture if you can. 27: In a past life I must have been a... Radical firebrand. Probably martyred. 28: If you had to look at one city skyline for the rest of your life, which would it be? That's too hard. I'd always like the option to switch. If forced, it wouldn't likely be a city. 29: Longest plane ride you've ever been on? Hobart to Sydney to Bangkok to London. About 24 hours all up. I ca...

SHAG BAY!

A person's fears are lighter when the danger is at hand.

Guess who just got told off?
