It is a very delicate job to forgive a man, without lowering him in his own estimation, and yours too.

Pull yer socks up!

(jesus/ told him ;he/ wouldn’t believe/ it)

A little bit of renovation. Derwent Avenue, Lindisfarne. March 2012. If e.e. cummings was building a house, I'm almost certain that he wouldn't waste time with nonsense like retaining walls, dynamic load testing, elemental cost planning and some such silly buggers! “plato told” , e.e. cummings plato told him :he couldn’t believe it(jesus told him ;he wouldn’t believe it)lao tsze certainly told him,and general (yes mam) sherman; and even (believe it or not)you told him :i told him ;we told him (he didn’t believe it,no sir)it took a nipponized bit of the old sixth avenue el ;in the top of his head :to tell him

It is better to entertain an idea than to take it home to live with you for the rest of your life.

Self portrait during a lunch break. Russell Street, Sandy Bay. July 2011. I do a reasonable line in obscure self portraits. If it is not shadow , it is a reflection . If it is not a reflection , it is a foot . Sometimes it is feet AND a reflection ! A foot viewed from different angles is essentially a different foot. Sometimes it just IS a different foot . Of course, no one shadow is the same as another . Shadows come in all shapes and sizes . Just as a reflection and a reflection can be very different beasts. Sometimes you just happen to be in the right place at the right time . Self-portraits can be deliberate , incidental or just plain unique .

Cowards die many times before their actual deaths.

I mentioned Long Beach Playground earlier today (a.k.a. the ' big park ')... Well, here is handsome Henry himself coyly strolling along that very walkway.

Thoughts are the shadows of our feelings - always darker, emptier and simpler.

Tasman Bridge as seen from the Lindisfarne foreshore. December 2010. So I hear that Michael Clarke is going to be Australian captain. That's a coincidence, because today's Sunday Top Five is Five Words That I Think Of When Someone Mentions Michael Clarke! Anencephalous Codswallop Flibbertigibbet Hobbledehoy Panjandrum

A man can do what he ought to do; and when he says he cannot, it is because he will not.

Walking to work, Monday morning, what could be finer? Oh, I know ! NOT walking to work on a Monday morning. Staying home in bed. With children who are quiet and well behaved and let you lie in. Walking to work, Monday morning.

A high station in life is earned by the gallantry with which appalling experiences are survived with grace.

The skin of a Russian princess, my Henry...

Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under communism, it's just the opposite.

Here is an assortment of rocks, birds and flora along the Derwent foreshore (on the eastern side). This photo was taken as the lads and I enjoyed a stroll along the riverside on my day off last Friday. This Friday, we are off to see some tigers, lions, monkeys and maybe even a rogue wombat or two. Expect photographs. A four day working week is indeed a most excellent thing!

An original idea. That can't be too hard. The library must be full of them.

Look at these poor buggers waiting at the lights, ready to head in to work for another day of soul destroying, mind numbing, blood pressure raising work! And it doesn't even matter that these guys will be working in the waterfront precinct, with lovely views and the chance of seeing seals frolicking during their coffee break. It matters not one jot, because they are disenchanted through the crushing numbness that is paid employment in the year 2009. One that fine note, here's Tuesday Q and A! This is an easy one today: do you hate your job?

Whenever a separation is made between liberty and justice, neither, in my opinion, is safe.

Self portrait in a car park, August 2009. As the only lady in the house packed to the gunwales of testosterone, poor Jen suffers intolerably . Even dear, sweet, lovely little Ezra™ has embraced with great vigour the masculine world of balls, drums, wild animals, mixed martial arts and random shouting. That said, Henry has his oven and has established a keen interest in the kitchen, even if his spiel is more Gordon Ramsey than Julia Child. He’s also shown an eagerness to learn the fine art of knitting (i.e. stabbing me with the needles and lynching his little people with the wool). He enjoys the supermarket (“What’s that daddy?” “What’s that daddy?” “What’s that daddy?” “What’s that daddy?” “What’s that daddy?” “What’s that?” “ What’s that? ” “ WHAT’S THAT? ”) We have Colin – the baby dolly introduced to Henry when we learned that Ez was on his way. Henry enjoys bathing Colin, wrapping Colin, changing Colin, dressing Colin, putting Colin to bed, feeding Colin, throwing Colin at me. Th...

Men become civilized, not in proportion to their willingness to believe, but in proportion to their readiness to doubt.

Ladies, ladies, ladies. Cool your jets. There's plenty of stud to go aound. Just be patient and wait your turn.
