Showing posts with the label me and Henry

Children are unpredictable. You never know what inconsistency they are going to catch you in next.

Henry and I are looking for creatures.

Bachelors have consciences, married men have wives.

Alas, we didn't jump...

The dumbest people I know are those who know it all.

Sometimes - usually when he is cranky - he wants a cuddle even when he doesn't want a cuddle...

It is easier to lead men to combat, stirring up their passion, than to restrain them and direct them toward the patient labours of peace.

It's hard work getting everybody to stand still long enough to snare a photo. This is the best that I could manage!

You can't slit the throat of everyone whose character it would improve.

Despite his usual late afternoon/early evening reversion to a modern day scoundrel (more Ungern von Sternberg than Dennis the Menace), this blast from the past reminds me that my love for my oldest baby is will be sempiternal, however many vegetables he refuses to eat. Yes, it's Henry and I the morning after his birth (earlier that morning). You can see that he was a bit battered and bruised by the whole experience. Maybe that explains his attitude of late, perhaps it is post-traumatic stress?

I think age is a very high price to pay for maturity.

Just to correct a vicious, vindictive hate campaign in the comments, while today is indeed my birthday, it is number thirty-two , not the forty proposed by the privately-educated (and thus spiritually and emotionally crippled) forty-something Hallam. As noted this time last year , 1977 was the year of my birth, not the far inferior 1969. So, to celebrate me having eight years up my sleeve until the dreaded forty, here is a photo of myself, a battered fit and broken down healthy old young man with two little rapscallions in either arms and a duck just behind as I shift past Brian Epstein, Bruce Lee, Mama Cass Elliot, Karen Carpenter and Keith Moon in the years spent alive column.

(My) Photo of the day

Today’s photo is a little different in that I am in front of the camera instead of behind it. This was taken by Jen at lunchtime yesterday, as Henry and I stalked some seagulls on the lawns opposite work. The visit from the home team was a mysterious one, as moves are afoot to dabble in a bit of guerrilla knitting. It may or may not have something to do with the upcoming World Wide Knit in Public Day . The end result was that I got a break from work to play with the footy, chase seagulls and spend some time with Henry while his mother and another furtive figure went off photographing and measuring things for some unknown reason. I shall let you know when I know what that’s all about. Tasmanian knitters can find out more at this website .
