All the ills of mankind, all the tragic misfortunes that fill the history books, all the political blunders, all the failures of the great leaders have arisen merely from a lack of skill at dancing.

Table Cape farmland #1. Table Cape, North West Tasmania. April 2013. Theme Thursday ? Yeah, one of those days. Table Cape farmland #2. Table Cape, North West Tasmania. April 2013. A good day for DREAMS.

What I look forward to is continued immaturity followed by death.

Carrying Ezra down the Nut. Stanley, Tasmania's North West Coast. April 2013. Theme Thursday already and I think that we are facing some serious TRUST issues... Looking out over Bass Strait from atop the Nut. Stanley, Tasmania's North West Coast. April 2013. Sawyer Bay, as seen from the Nut. Stanley, Tasmania's North West Coast. April 2013.

I never wonder to see men wicked, but I often wonder to see them not ashamed.

Lonely water tower. Boat Harbour, Tasmania's North West Coast. April 2013. A special 'hints and tips' Sunday Top Five today: Five Things That I Have Learned That Are Worth Reminding People Of! It is a lot more difficult to get rid of calories than it is to avoid consuming them in the first place. The ability to be happy is nothing more than working out how to deal with things changing. Bad moods are a reality of everybody’s life, and trying to force them away makes them run deeper and last longer. If everyone in the movie or TV show you’re watching is good-looking, it isn’t worth watching. If anything is worth spending a bit of money on, it’s a high-quality mattress. You spend at least a third of your life using it!

We die only once, and for such a long time.

Proud Gull. Boat Harbour. April 2013. It is another Theme Thursday and today sees a burst of CREATIVITY and a shot little piece that came to me on the walk to work. I call it Perception . Quiet Jim was the first of the old gang to die. It came as a bit of a shock to get the invite to his funeral on Facebook. There were five in our gang: me; Quiet Jim (he was the quiet one); Loud Jim (he was the loud one); Big Jim (he was the fat one); and Little Jim (he wasn't very little, but he was much smaller than Big Jim). They just called me ‘Mike’. It was a surprise to all of us that Quiet Jim was the first to go. He was so, well, quiet . Loud Jim drank too much, got into fights and generally wasn't a very nice person.Big Jim’s diet was terrible, he smoked like a chimney and the mere thought of exercise could send him into apoplexy. Little Jim (who really wasn't little at all) had a taste for bizarre sexual practices. I’m pretty laid back, but as an avid trainspotter am al...

Wine hath drowned more men than the sea.

Ezra investigates apples. Invariably he will eat a grub.

Nothing helps a bad mood like spreading it around.

Seeds. Fern Glade, Burnie. April 2013. Wordless Wednesday.

Compliments cost nothing, yet many pay dear for them.

Look! He isn't talking!

I have frequently gained my first real insight into the character of parents by studying their children.

I finally had a chance to prove the family that Tasmania's North West Coast is the true CRAB CAPITAL of Tasmania!

Sacred cows make the tastiest hamburger.

Our deeds determine us, as much as we determine our deeds.

Raw periwinkles. In salt. Yum.

It is a cliché that most clichés are true, but then like most clichés, that cliché is untrue.

Henry and Ezra do their very best impersonation of two shags on a very small rock.

Everyone is entitled to his own nostalgia.

Ezra, Jen and Hen. Oozing sincerity. Boat Harbour. April 2013. Theme Thursday . ANZAC Day. INTOXICATE. Sad but true. Beer, flags, patriotism, narrow minded bigots. All the same.

I liked things better when I didn't understand them.

Ezra at dusk.

No blessing lasts forever.

Can you believe it? He's smiling in a photo!

Many of us spend half of our time wishing for things we could have if we didn't spend half our time wishing.

The gang's all here. Table Cape Lighthouse, Table Cape. April 2013. Sunday Stealing: The 5000 Question Meme, The Final Part One 76. Do you prefer Disney or Warner Brothers? It depends on one's mood. For the shorter film, give me WB. For the feature length, probably Disney. 77. What is the first animal you would run to see if you went to the zoo? I do like the very large bears. 78. Would you consider yourself to be romantic? How might you define it? If 'traditional' (i.e. chocolates, wine, roses and trite platitudes) not in the slightest. If you're more practically-oriented (i.e. housework, cooking, child rearing), then definitely! 79. If the earth stopped rotating would we all fly off? Don't be silly. 80. What is the one thing that you love to do so much that you would make sacrifices to be able to do it? I make sacrifices to do the things that I want to do already! For example, 'career'. 81. If you (and everyone) had to lose one righ...

Most people live in a myth and grow violently angry if anyone dares to tell them the truth about themselves.

Sisters Creek, flowing into Sisters Beach, has proven as popular with this current generation of McCracken boys as it was the previous mob.

You're not supposed to be so blind with patriotism that you can't face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who says it.

Sunset, and the boys are thinking about ice cream. Boat Harbour Beach, Boat Harbour. April 2013. The first duty of a revolutionary is to get away with it.

Henry flushes out the tiger snakes.

A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything.

Emu River. Fern Glade, Burnie. April 2013. Today's Sunday Top Five is a simple one: Five Things That *Particularly* Annoyed Me This Week! Large, belligerent girls in bus malls. People who smoke when they walk. Hipsters who can't handle their bicycles. Foul- mouthed bus travelers. People who think that they are asking questions when they are really making statements.

The path up is the path down. The way forward is the way back. The universe inside is outside but the universe outside is inside.

Yesterday evening you saw Henry struggle the entire way up The Nut (in Stanley), this fine evening you can see the despicable shortcut that his brother and mother took. We still won.
