Those who lack the courage will always find a philosophy to justify it.

It's time. The living room, Geilston Bay. July 2012. Sunday Top Five time and today I venture into what I am told is controversial territory (it generally isn't in the circles I frequent): My Top Five List Of The Most Stupid Arguments Against Same Sex Marriage! Marriage has been this way for thousands of years, so why change it now? Yes, in much the same way that we’ve not accepted change in the area of equal rights for women or property rights for slaveholders, institutions never change. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they are primarily about furthering the species (i.e. producing children). Yes, much like the laws that we have around forbidding infertile couples from wedding and the compulsory divorces once menopause kicks in. The Bible doesn’t allow it. In the same way as we don’t allow bowl cuts (Leviticus 19:27, "You shall not round off the side-growth of your heads); tattoos (Leviticus 19:28, "You shall not make any cuts in your body for t...

I think it would be better if nobody owned anything, but they didn't starve. Had enough paint and enough pianos and everything else.

The closest we'll come to having a dog... The living room, Geilston Bay. June 2011. A pretty pound puppy living in a Duplo duplex being fed bricks with a plastic pitchfork? Very much the only dog I will be letting in our house! Even that one was a loaner from Henry's kindergarten... I'm more a cat man than a dog person. Dogs are always whining and begging. I've already got enough of that around the joint thank you very much.

Babel Two? The Living Room, Geilston Bay. June 2011. Another day, another job. By the time this post appears I shall be ensconced down in main street Sandy Bay, not far from my humble abode of a good four or five years. That shall no doubt prompt some interesting moments of deja vu . Nonetheless, a whole new adventure with a whole new set of potential photographs on the way to and from work (not to mention lunch breaks)!

When God desires to destroy a thing, he entrusts its destruction to the thing itself. Every bad institution of this world ends by suicide.

We call it Babel II . The living room, Geilston Bay. November 2010. If the boys let me, I can just about manage to get the Lego Duplo tower all the way to the ceiling. Then the race is on to knock the bugger down! For some reason, my children seem to take a profound and personal offence to the wonderful and impressive constructions...

All art is a revolt against man's fate.

Duplo blocks are really the most excellent materials with which to construct a stairway to heaven .

Life has to be given a meaning because of the obvious fact that it has no meaning.

This week, we have mainly been building: Holding pens .

When ideas fail, words come in very handy.

How many times? It is Duplo , not Lego !
