And the Pope closed down a lot of the factories that were makin' the potatoes and turned them into prisons for children.

Henry loves mashed potatoes.

So I get him to mash them.

I usually fancy the Dutch Cream, which is a superior Tasmanian speciality. The Dutch Cream is like the Henry and Ezra of the potato world, smooth, sexy and world class. I rank it as top of the class. However, a new pretender to the throne has emerged with the flash American-bred Innovator. This brash, yet versatile little beauty (mash it, boil it, roast it, fry it) is kind of like a plain Russet with a creamy undertone. I won't lie, it's drawn my eye.

My name is Kris. I am a spudoholic.

The last two pictures of the boys have both shown them deep in concentration in housework. You're training them very well! (it's enough to make me broody, lol)

Ooh your masher is the same as my masher . . Personally I'm a Desiree mash fan with a splotch of runny cream and loads of butter.

Who doesn't like potatoes? They are yummy :-), and that mash potato in the picture looks delicious. When will the day come when we can send food over internet!? Then, I was going to order some of that mash-beauty from Kris-Kitchen Restaurant.

The Dutch-Cream link didn't work.

Hi my name is Mrsupole and I am a spudoholic, it is nice to meet meet you.

Our next meeting will be Monday at 7:00pm at our local parrish. We will be serving yam fries, baked yams, and mashed yams. Alcoholic drinks are allowed except potato mash whiskey. After the meeting we will congregate at the nearby McDonald's to watch others eat those fries. Sigh.

Thank you for sharing the picture of Henry mashing those potatoes, it is so cute to see him doing that.

God bless.

You are a brilliant parent. Nuf said on that front.

Here on the US west coast one can purchase all kinds of potato varieties, from red to yellow to purple, smooth and creamy to grainy and hearty. They are as designer-y as designer lettuces have become. I once bought my spud adoring Irish workmate a potato cookbook for her birthday. Nothing in the 250 page volume but potato recipes. She proceeded to name all the ways she loved potatoes. . .it was like the shrimp bit out of Forrest Gump. Went on, off-and-on, all day. We laughed 'til our eyes watered. Good to see capable kids helping in the kitchen.

Kim, I am merely adequate. I am trying to work on my game in the telling off department. I need more constructive responses to difficult behaviour.

The possibilities for potatoes are endless, they are SUPERFOOD!

Lost inside an adorable illusion and I cannot hide, I'm the one you're using, please don't push me aside, we could've made it cruising, yeah.

Yes it is Theme Thusday again, and today we are talking GLASS . I've three possible hooks to hang my [glass] hat on with this theme. First, the photo! Yes, it is the river again from an odd angle in an interesting light. You can just make out the bottom, which should tell you that I'm right on the shore. In some ways, the distortion of the stones below the surface reminds me of ye olde glass windows, what they call "cylinder blown sheet glass". You can still find some of this around Hobart these days. Thw second link comes from a trip I took to Venice a few years back. You're probably aware that Venice was (is?) a glass-making centre of excellence. If you have ever been there and taken the tour of the glass factories, you might be familiar with the sheer amount of coloured glass that sits at the bottom of the water there. These fragments of glass have been worn down and had their edges dulled by their time in the water, which makes them ample keepsakes for the ...

Hold me now, oh hold me now, until this hour has gone around. And I'm gone on the rising tide, to face Van Dieman's Land

Theme Thursday again, and this one is rather easy. I am Tasmanian, you see, and aside from being all around general geniuses - as I have amply described previously - we are also very familiar with the concept of WATER. Tasmania is the ONLY island state of an ISLAND continent. That means, we're surrounded by WATER. That should help explain why I take so many photographs of water . Tasmania was for a long time the place where the British (an island race terrified of water) sent their poor people most vile and horrid criminals. The sort of folk who would face the stark choice of a death sentence , or transportation to the other end of the world. Their catalogue of crimes is horrifying : stealing bread assault stealing gentlemen's handkerchiefs drunken assault being poor affray ladies being overly friendly with gentlemen for money hitting people having a drink and a laugh public drunkenness being Irish Fenian terrorist activities being Catholic religious subversion. ...

Happy anniversary baby, got you on my mind

No it is not a webcam, but this photograph was taken a mere forty-five ago on my way in to work. Here you can see a good old fashioned Hobart autumn morning, with the rain pelting down and me getting drenched. This one was taken on the corner of Macquarie and Elizabeth, while I was waiting for the lights to change. Come on Ampelmännchen ! Today is my wedding anniversary, an apparently I need to be showering Jen with leather -related goodies. Va-va-vaVOOM! To you Jennifer, here is a poem I wrote this very morning. Anniversary I love you i love you iloveyouiloveyouiloveyou I LOVE you I love YOU iloveyouiloveyouiloveyou I LOVE YOU iloveyouiloveyouiloveyou Happy anniversary
