A man may be a fool and not know it, but not if he is married.

Completing a dare, Sullivans Cove, June 2010.

At least I hope that this bloke is completing a dare.

Theme Thursday today, and although I am again rushed off my feet, it isn't too much of a stretch today. You see, I am lucky enough to be armed with a CAMERA for much of the day as I go about the place.

Naturally, this affords me ample opportunity to indulge in one of my favourite pastimes, taking the piss.

Take the image above, for example. If I didn't have my CAMERA, I would have had to simply describe how badly dressed this fellow was. "Dud haircut, pink singlet, pale grey checked short shorts, shaved legs and boat shoes sans socks" doesn't at all do it justice.

With the CAMERA, I can share such a find with the world!

oh but if you find the right adjectives we would surely understand he is the fool...happy tt you know!

He also appears to have sat in something wet...sad really.

Regarding your quote...some (mostly men) would say the fact of being married proved the fool part.

Without the visual, it's just comedy. Thanks to the picture we can add tragedy.

What dare? Don't you realise this is the enlightened age. We wear what we want. Unless of course you are married, in which case everything must be coordinated. I found this out after. I always thought that I dressed rather niftily.

Brian, people assume that you're picking on some poor unfortunate homeless mentally ill type, which is not my style at all. The camera lets you make clear that you're not taking advantage of too easy pickings.

Magpie, I expect that he was meeting some young lovely in town.

If so, I hope that she scoffed at him.

Me, one of these days, I really need to get a snap of Nick Mckimm eating a Banjos meat pie with a knife and fork. That always amuses me.

Roddy, I wouldn't be taking fashion tips from you. My pants don't pull up that high!

Those shoes. Oh my God. Those shoes. Only a photo...you are so right. My Theme Thursday is HERE .

My son, my trousers are comfortable. Yes they are high cut. At least I don't feel that they are forever falling down. I have seen first hand people of my age that wear their trousers as though they are kneesters. What an obscenity. Fortunately pants are not all cut that low.
And no. My hips are not around the middle or bottom of my thighs. Sorry!
Also I don't know how some people don't trip over their crutch, they wear them that low.

they are just manaquins.

Now if you hung around some of the beach towns in the US during the summer, you would know that this guy is more the norm than not. In fact, maybe he IS an American.

I for one am delighted that you take your camera everywhere. Great shot (did he run into the pole). Oh and congratulations on the new job. Need an EA? I'm so desperate I'd even move to Tassie?
Kris McCracken said…
Monkey Man, the shoes do make it, I agree.
Kris McCracken said…
Roddy, that is between you and your god.
Kris McCracken said…
Tom, poorly dressed dummies?
Kris McCracken said…
PattiKen, I forgot to ask!

Baino, decent jobs are scarce, that said, good EAs are always in demand down here.

Hold me now, oh hold me now, until this hour has gone around. And I'm gone on the rising tide, to face Van Dieman's Land

Theme Thursday again, and this one is rather easy. I am Tasmanian, you see, and aside from being all around general geniuses - as I have amply described previously - we are also very familiar with the concept of WATER. Tasmania is the ONLY island state of an ISLAND continent. That means, we're surrounded by WATER. That should help explain why I take so many photographs of water . Tasmania was for a long time the place where the British (an island race terrified of water) sent their poor people most vile and horrid criminals. The sort of folk who would face the stark choice of a death sentence , or transportation to the other end of the world. Their catalogue of crimes is horrifying : stealing bread assault stealing gentlemen's handkerchiefs drunken assault being poor affray ladies being overly friendly with gentlemen for money hitting people having a drink and a laugh public drunkenness being Irish Fenian terrorist activities being Catholic religious subversion. ...

But when the strong were too weak to hurt the weak, the weak had to be strong enough to leave.

Can you believe that it is time for Theme Thursday already? Today we are not talking chocolate , toddlers , mess or ignominy . No, today we're dealing with ANIMAL . Now I could have posted a picture of a possum, numbat, wombat, wallaby or any other furry killing machine that roams our fair isle, but I figure that I'd use a far more deadly creature as an example of an animal . Some people - I know them as fools - have chosen to embrace that highfalutin idea that human beans are for some ungodly reason superior to animals. Of course, what these imbeciles seem to forget is that were are simple animals ourselves ! Anyone with a baby, toddler, teenage boy or Queenslander in their household could tell you this. Look at Henry [above]. One chocolate frog in the back of the car on a sunny day and all of a sudden it's Elagabalus meets Bacchus for a quick shandy in the Serengeti and we're down on all fours carrying on like a cat in heat. Fair dinkum, anyone who chooses to ...

Something unpleasant is coming when men are anxious to tell the truth.

This is the moon. Have I mentioned how much I adore the zoom on my camera? It's Theme Thursday you see, and after last week's limp effort, I have been thinking about how I might redeem myself. Then I clicked on the topic and discover that it was BUTTON. We've been hearing a lot about the moon in the past couple of weeks. Apparently some fellas went up there and played golf and what-not forty-odd years ago. The desire to get to the moon, however, was not simply about enhancing opportunities for Meg and Mog titles and skirting local planning by-laws in the construction of new and innovative golf courses. No, all of your Sputniks , "One small steps" and freeze dried ice cream was about one thing , and one thing only : MAD Now, I don't mean mad in terms of "bloke breaks record for number of scorpions he can get up his bum", no I mean MAD as in Mutual assured destruction . When I was a young man you see, there was a lot of talk about the type of m...
