People in Tasmania often need reminders scattered about the place that help them remember where it is that they are. The good folks at the Hobart City Council has ensured that anyone utilising Davey Street is more than aware that they're in Hobart, Tasmania and not Tucumán, Argentina. I understand that there has been some confusion about that in the past.
My apologies for leaving the post so late, but somehow I have found myself becoming active in my local community, as the newest member of the Geilston Bay Community Centre Board. Miles will no doubt be impressed, driven as he is by local pride. Couple this with asking the hard questions and making some big calls at work today, I must say that today has been a good day, personally and professionally.

Having said that, we have a place not far from where I live with this name.

The states dividing line runs through the center of town. You can buy things on one side without tax and pay tax on the other.
Things are often considerably cheaper on one side than on the other.
It has existed this way since day one.

How is life going with the 2 boys?
So glad you had a good day, Kris.
It is a heavy responsibility, the Geilston Bay Community Centre Board. Obama should give me a call, and maybe I can give him some tips.
Abe, I regularly don’t know where I am, but that is more a philosophical conundrum rather than a geographical quandary.
When you live on an island, it never ceases to amuse me that some towns do cross borders of states and even countries. I like those towns on the NSW and Queensland border, where you can take one step and go back in time (NSW has one hour of daylight savings and Queensland does not).
Bitingmidge, a mere blip on a freckle of the universe’s backside!
Kiwi, modern life can get quite confusing.
Neva, I reckon that Auckland will have signs up, so she’ll be right!
Life with two boys is... [spins the wheel] awesome.
Dina, the delay in going through and responding has meant that I can’t remember what made it a good day! I’ve had successions of shocking days in the interim!
