Some subjects are so serious that one can only joke about them.

Here's a Hobartian winter sunrise (when it isn't raining), for your perusal. I think that the two columns there are masts from a couple of super maxi yachts parked down in Constitution Dock.

I have just heard that poor old Michael Jackson has died. As someone of the firm opinion that Whacko Jacko's work enables him to stand in the column marked Musical Genius (at least until it all started to go pear shaped.

I am wondering, what do people think of the guy? Pop genius? Kiddie Fiddler? Tortured child trapped in a man’s body? Punch line to a thousand jokes?

Bit drastic for getting out of a world tour! I know someone who won't miss him, still that is me.
I wonder if Sir Paul can now get his music back?

Lovely silhoutte Kris. The upper part is a lovely golden mango colour, with a dash of orange.

Sorry to hear about MJ's death, nobody could see it coming, not the media at least. I like just one song of his (though there are plenty others which are, may be, more popular) "Beat it". For the past few years now, he was in news for more bad reasons than good ones. I guess a celebrity's life is often riddled with controversies but MJ had to face it more than anyone else of his contemporaries.

I am mourning the death of the artist who invented THE *moonwalk*. Heal the world, Belie Jean, Blood on the dance floor, Bad, Thriller... Lots of school memories are attached to these songs. More than the death of the kiddie fiddler, its the sad and lonely death of a musician, who failed to grab the last chance to redeem himself. The timing was bad.

As a musician,he was one of the greatest!A great voice and some of his songs are just amazing, let's not talk about the dancing.I just want to talk about the musician, cause we cannot say bad things about the deads.
May he rests in peace.

The cynic in me wondered at first (before his death was confirmed) whether the heart attack was merely a way of generating interest in his upcoming tour. Then after my workmates & I had a few cheap giggles at his somewhat ridiculous public persona, we all agreed that the man did some good stuff. Way way way back in the 70s & 80s, true. But it's there.

I, too, was cynical with the first reports.
"Oh..he's just trying to get out of that tour!" I proclaimed to Zac.
Then when it was confirmed, I was astonished at how sad I felt.
Over the years I have felt many different emotions when surveying MJ in his different guises. Disgust, dislike and dismay come readily to mind!
But his music does play a part in the soundtrack of my life...from the early years and "ABC" with his brothers and the beautiful "Ben" (the best song ever written about a rat)...right through to his newer stuff. I usually did find myself tapping my toes and tempted to moonwalk out of rooms!
The man was a damaged soul...which resulted in his wacky ways. But you cannot begrudge him that he was a great talent of his time.
I truly hope he finds some peace at last!

He was a troubled and sorry soul, but one that had made great music which will always be remembered. He changed things in how music videos were made and viewed. He had a great talent, he had problems, he did bad and stupid things that he should not have done, he had a lonely life, I hope that his children helped him to be happier. I pray his soul has been saved and forgiven.

May he rest in peace.

God bless.
Hi! Kris,
Personally, I try to be very fair when it comes to others...and this includes not judging others lest I be judge and what is that saying, about remove the 2x by 4x from your own eye before trying to remove the splinter from others eye.
I don't know?!?

I most definitely, do not believe in judging others...because I’ am not...Oh! Well,
May he RIP...as Mrsupole, say, "God Bless"

Take care!

If there were balls on top of the two towers I'd say that the picture was of Bunnings at North Hobart.

Absolutely gorgeous picture. Something seems to be on fire!!

I am really sad at his death; he simply invented an unique dance style and lovely music, according to me. I was hoping one day to see him perform live on stage, but alas, that day is never to come :-(.....

Mrsupole, indeed
For me it is a pity that the artist MJ has died. In fact, when I heard the news made me somewhat sad feeling. I still remember when the Eve of 1983 (or was in 1982) I was almost 9 years and put on TV for the Thriller video. What memories.

MDP, I remember that too. Except that I was in Burnie, Tasmania.

Ah, Joe, you never knew the whole of it...

I still have the robot on the job. Here you can see the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery . And here is a poem: Soliloquy for One Dead Bruce Dawe Ah, no, Joe, you never knew the whole of it, the whistling which is only the wind in the chimney's smoking belly, the footsteps on the muddy path that are always somebody else's. I think of your limbs down there, softly becoming mineral, the life of grasses, and the old love of you thrusts the tears up into my eyes, with the family aware and looking everywhere else. Sometimes when summer is over the land, when the heat quickens the deaf timbers, and birds are thick in the plumbs again, my heart sickens, Joe, calling for the water of your voice and the gone agony of your nearness. I try hard to forget, saying: If God wills, it must be so, because of His goodness, because- but the grasshopper memory leaps in the long thicket, knowing no ease. Ah, Joe, you never knew the whole of it... I like Bruce Dawe. He just my be my favourite Austral...

There was nothing left. No reason, no conscience, no understanding; even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong.

Here is a self portrait. I’m calling it Portrait of a lady in a dirty window . Shocking, isn’t it? However, it is apt! Samhain , Nos Galan Gaeaf , Hop-tu-Naa , All Saints , All Hallows , Hallowmas , Hallowe'en or HALLOWEEN . It’s Theme Thursday and we’re talking about the festivals traditionally held at the end of the harvest season. Huh? No wonder Australians have trouble with the concept of HALLOWEEN. For the record, in my thirty-two L O N G years on the planet, I can’t say I’ve ever seen ghosts ‘n goblins, trick ‘n treaters or Michael Myers stalking Tasmania’s streets at the end of October. [That said, I did once see a woman as pale as a ghost turning tricks that looked like Michael Myers in late November one time.] Despite the best efforts of Hollywood, sitcoms, and innumerable companies; it seems Australians are impervious to the [ahem] charms of a corporatized variant of a celebration of the end of the "lighter half" of the year and beginning of the "darke...

In dreams begin responsibilities.

A life at sea, that's for me, only I just don't have the BREAD. That's right, Theme Thursday yet again and I post a photo of a yacht dicking about in Bass Strait just off Wynyard. The problem is, I am yet again stuck at work, slogging away, because I knead need the dough . My understanding is that it is the dough that makes the BREAD. And it is the BREAD that buys the yacht. On my salary though, I will be lucky to have enough dough or BREAD for a half dozen dinner rolls. Happy Theme Thursday people, sorry for the rush.
