Most fools think they are only ignorant.

Through a tunnel underneath a large roundabout, I can just about see the light!

So it is Theme Thursday again, and this week those of us fortunate enough to live in the Southern Hemisphere - the greatest Hemisphere in the known universe - are once again disadvantaged!

SNOW!

Yes, SNOW!

We're just into summer and I am supposed to talk SNOW?!?

Sorry fellas, SNOW chance of that!
A Story

I once knew a fellow who was charming, in a roguish way. He had a cutting wit, and although his manner to my mind drifted into the unnecessarily cruel, he remained quite the hit with the ladies.

An attractive gent, he was aware of his physical charms. Knowing this appeared to empower some of his less attractive features. That said, he was the life of the party, and his trademark bons mots always ensured a steady bevy of beauties hanging off his arm. Moreover, despite what many of the legions of his callously discarded conquests might like to tell themselves, he really, truthfully was happy and content with his life.

I remember one particular time when a young lady left his side with a short, sharp wail. Later, I found her outside in the cold evening air, a hulking, quivering mass of snot and tears amidst the sleet and the SNOW. She was inconsolable.

This was not atypical.

Back inside, I sidled up to him – fresh drink in hand (of course) – and, casual as you like, shared an observation with him as we scrutinized the multitude of girls in the room. I meant no offence (well, maybe a little offence), but I felt the need to share.

“I know that you think you’re funny and cool and urbane and all that, but really, you’re just an arsehole.”

“I know,” he said.

He looked pretty pleased with himself.

Liza, we're kind of used to it. Really, as a kid you scratch your head at Santa in rugged woollens even when it's stinking hot and the middle of summer.

I love your story. I worked for a very long time helping people get divorces and restraining order and such, and I came to a sad realization. Men are ass holes and women are stupid. Present company excluded of course. I hope.

Happy TT from the second best hemisphere in the universe.

Kris...nice TT post. I often forget that not everyone else celebrates the same season as we do. Ugh. Still a good, funny post. :)

i think i would trade with you...i don't care all that much for snow, or maybe it's the frigid temps that suck..just like that heartless cad friend of yours...

Snow? No! The days out here are quite nice. However the nights are a tad cool. Just a touch of rain!
I think that global warming may be taking us into a new ice age.

No ego problem with this guy and at least he admitted it, wot? Nice tie-in to the theme, Kris :)

It is hard to think about, look at or write about snow since I have recently returned from a couple of weeks in Egypt.

Women always go for the arseholes. And then they learn. At least the lucky ones do.

Funny but not so funny that you don't get snow but then again, maybe you are fine with that? Myself? I love it. My mother used to live in Australiad for part of the War as a teen adn she never got used to summer at xmas. Still, you have so many other thigns to offer. Here, in CO, all we have is the snow.. wel, and the Rockies in general.
Hi! Kris,
The snow story(Laughter!) Wow!

Yes, Kris we have snow where I live with more on the way, but freezing temps go away!

Thanks, for sharing and Happy TT
too!

I think slipping something in his drink might help. At least he acknowledges his buttness.

If you want to be loved, be lovable.

Henry admires the view.

Zeal, n. A certain nervous disorder afflicting the young and inexperienced. A passion that goeth before a sprawl.

Here I have tried my hand at the homemade sepia-toned photo. I wasn’t happy with the way that the sun had washed out some of the colours in the original, so had a bit of a fiddle because I like the look on Henry’s face, and didn’t want to pass on posting it. I have a tip for those of you burdened with the great, unceasing weight of parenthood. I have a new recipe, in the vein of the quick microwaved chocolate cake . Get this, microwaved potato chips . I gave them a run on Sunday, Henry liked the so much I did it again last night. Tonight, I shall be experimenting with sweet potato. I think that the ground is open for me to exploit opportunities in the swede, turnip, carrot and maybe even explore in the area of pumpkins. Radical, I know. I’m a boundary-pusher by nature. It's pretty simple, take the potato. Slice it thinly (it doesn't have to be too thin, but thin enough). Lay the slices on the microwave plate, whack a bit of salt over the top and nuke the buggers for five minut

Ah, Joe, you never knew the whole of it...

I still have the robot on the job. Here you can see the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery . And here is a poem: Soliloquy for One Dead Bruce Dawe Ah, no, Joe, you never knew the whole of it, the whistling which is only the wind in the chimney's smoking belly, the footsteps on the muddy path that are always somebody else's. I think of your limbs down there, softly becoming mineral, the life of grasses, and the old love of you thrusts the tears up into my eyes, with the family aware and looking everywhere else. Sometimes when summer is over the land, when the heat quickens the deaf timbers, and birds are thick in the plumbs again, my heart sickens, Joe, calling for the water of your voice and the gone agony of your nearness. I try hard to forget, saying: If God wills, it must be so, because of His goodness, because- but the grasshopper memory leaps in the long thicket, knowing no ease. Ah, Joe, you never knew the whole of it... I like Bruce Dawe. He just my be my favourite Austral
