The long run is a misleading guide to current affairs. In the long run we are all dead.

Triangles aplenty down at Opossum Bay. February 2010.

T minus 6,900 minutes and 14 seconds.

Theme Thursday, and a spot of luck as even a cursory glance at the photo above gives me nineteen glorious examples of the wondrous TRIANGLE!

I wish to deviate for a moment, however. For I need to vent.

This morning we will probably see the current Prime Minister replaced. Now, it won't be the voters that do it. It won't be rank and file Labor Party members that do it. Although they can rightfully claim the scalp - and make no bones about it, that's what it is - it won't be the media conglomerates, mineral companies, stock brokers, tax avoiders and countless other parasites that live of the (however clichéd but in this sense apt) fat of the land.

No, it'll be the same old same old twitchy hacks within the ALP who always spoil it for the likes of me.

You see, I'm clearly an idiot. I believe that government is important, and an expression of the will of the people. Politics is thus a necessary evil, a way to allow the contest of ideas and decide what exactly it is that the people will

I'm not much of a fan of the PM, but if ALP does what is expected and dumps Rudd now, it will not only be a tremendously stupid thing to do, it will be a stark demonstration of where power lays in Australia today. Forget what you've been told, but the moronic union bully boys (and remember that Julia as you take the blood stained chalice) that have shown true bully colours.

They've caved.

Indeed, in a demonstration of the most pusillanimous [and look that up Bill Shorton because it sums you right up you useless, moronic piece of s%#t...] spinelessness I've seen in quite a while, they've given in to the most barefaced, transparent campaign orchestrated by the usual cabal of bosses, manipulators and vermin that run this show.

Despite Mr Murdoch’s best efforts, with some confidence I’d say – nice and loudly – to the ALP that YOU WOULD HAVE WON THAT ELECTION. It isn’t necessary.

Alas, it’s not about ideas, it’s about polls.

Who controls the polls? You know who because they always have.

The saddest part is that the imbeciles at the controls of power in the ALP are too stupid to know.

Well done fellas, enjoy the bloodletting.

[I also note that I'm not even a particular fan of the the [still] current PM. He does, however, deserve better than this.]

Whatever happens, I'll be happy as long as we don't end up with Abbott as PM. Although Kevin really didn't deserve what happened this morning...

Great find on the triangles. Happy TT

Did you get it all off your chest, or is there more bile to be vented?
I know where your feelings lie, however I for one was beginning to believe that we may have been decimated at the next election.
I will have my say at the party meeting. Perhaps it could have been done differently.

Define triangle. If I am correct then I count 23.

Clearly times have changed since you posted this and we now have Julia at the helm I'm not sure how I feel about it but I think the timing is God awful frankly. Only our shitty opposition will save Labour in March. I feel he's been betrayed by the bitch frankly. He wasn't awesome but he did manage to keep us out of recession while the rest of the world went down the dunny. Shame, we'll never know whether it was his leadership or John Howard's surplus.

Brian, given that I've chosen to spend a lot of my time to the study of politics, I don't half hate it!

Me, well, the ALP today have done their best to get Tony in...

Magpie, pure luck!

Roddy, there is a lot more bile, don't you worry about that. All that I can say is that yet again the leadership (HA!) of the ALP is their own worst enemy.
Kris McCracken said…
Baino, Howard's surplus was the legacy of Hawke/Keating's reforms. Rarely in politics do people get what they deserve.

I do hope that Ms Gillard gets hers though...

Oh, my. I see you have some strong feelings about this. Of course, I've been known to get on a bit of a roll about politics myself. I can't even talk to my brother about politics anymore. Because clearly he's an idiot.
Kris McCracken said…
PattiKen, I'm resolving to not talking about it too.

Ah, Joe, you never knew the whole of it...

I still have the robot on the job. Here you can see the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery . And here is a poem: Soliloquy for One Dead Bruce Dawe Ah, no, Joe, you never knew the whole of it, the whistling which is only the wind in the chimney's smoking belly, the footsteps on the muddy path that are always somebody else's. I think of your limbs down there, softly becoming mineral, the life of grasses, and the old love of you thrusts the tears up into my eyes, with the family aware and looking everywhere else. Sometimes when summer is over the land, when the heat quickens the deaf timbers, and birds are thick in the plumbs again, my heart sickens, Joe, calling for the water of your voice and the gone agony of your nearness. I try hard to forget, saying: If God wills, it must be so, because of His goodness, because- but the grasshopper memory leaps in the long thicket, knowing no ease. Ah, Joe, you never knew the whole of it... I like Bruce Dawe. He just my be my favourite Austral...

There was nothing left. No reason, no conscience, no understanding; even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong.

Here is a self portrait. I’m calling it Portrait of a lady in a dirty window . Shocking, isn’t it? However, it is apt! Samhain , Nos Galan Gaeaf , Hop-tu-Naa , All Saints , All Hallows , Hallowmas , Hallowe'en or HALLOWEEN . It’s Theme Thursday and we’re talking about the festivals traditionally held at the end of the harvest season. Huh? No wonder Australians have trouble with the concept of HALLOWEEN. For the record, in my thirty-two L O N G years on the planet, I can’t say I’ve ever seen ghosts ‘n goblins, trick ‘n treaters or Michael Myers stalking Tasmania’s streets at the end of October. [That said, I did once see a woman as pale as a ghost turning tricks that looked like Michael Myers in late November one time.] Despite the best efforts of Hollywood, sitcoms, and innumerable companies; it seems Australians are impervious to the [ahem] charms of a corporatized variant of a celebration of the end of the "lighter half" of the year and beginning of the "darke...

In dreams begin responsibilities.

A life at sea, that's for me, only I just don't have the BREAD. That's right, Theme Thursday yet again and I post a photo of a yacht dicking about in Bass Strait just off Wynyard. The problem is, I am yet again stuck at work, slogging away, because I knead need the dough . My understanding is that it is the dough that makes the BREAD. And it is the BREAD that buys the yacht. On my salary though, I will be lucky to have enough dough or BREAD for a half dozen dinner rolls. Happy Theme Thursday people, sorry for the rush.
