There are a terrible lot of lies going about the world, and the worst of it is that half of them are true.

It's a crab! Little Howrah Beach, July 2011.

Today I am stealing the Q & A from The Manchester Guardian!

When were you happiest?
Probably when I was young enough to know otherwise.

What is your greatest fear?
To be unnecessary.

What is your earliest memory?
Kevin Bartlett's goals in the 1980 Grand Final is the earliest I can put a date on.

Which living person do you most admire, and why?
'Most' is a very big call, but I've always admired how Václav Havel goes about his business.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Perfection discipline.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Indiscipline.

Property aside, what's the most expensive thing you've bought?
Ummmm. Maybe a computer.

What is your most treasured possession?
I'm not sure that I have one. Possessions are a little bit overrated.

What would your super power be?
Being able to poo money would be good.

What makes you unhappy?
Being kept awake unnecessarily.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?
General wear and tear.

What is your favourite word?
In all languages I like 'Lebensmüde'. In English, maybe 'oscillation'.

What is your most unappealing habit?
A mocking tone.

What is your fancy dress costume of choice?
"Ordinary bystander #3".

If you could bring something extinct back to life, what would you choose?
A healthy sense of shame.

Is it better to give or to receive?
It depends on the disease.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?
The odd lunchtime souvlaki.

What does love feel like?
Being.

What was the best kiss of your life?
It's a tie and it involves very fresh babies.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
"It depends."

What is the worst job you've done?
Door to door selling of the Sunday paper was pretty ordinary.

If you could go back in time, where would you go?
Very good question this. Do I have the luxury of some kind of magic pill to enable me to speak/ understand the local dialect? If I do, Paris in 1789 would be a good one. If not, how about Victorian London?

When did you last cry, and why?
I've already dealt with this (#13).

How do you relax?
Onanism.

What single thing would improve the quality of your life?
Volume buttons on children.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Making it this far.

How would you like to be remembered?
As someone worth remembering.

Where would you most like to be right now?
Prague.

'Lebensmüde' is far to pessimistic for my taste.

laziness

A small sailboat.

What would your super power be?
To be able to speak all the local languages around the world.

What makes you unhappy?
Stressed people.

In German: Das Meer. In english: sailing

Where would you most like to be right now?
Lisbon (Cascais)

Loved this. Geez, you make me laugh, Kris...such fabulous answers. The "how do you relax" one threw me for a minute...thought it was something else but when I googled the meaning it was pretty close to what I thought it was in the first place...if you get my drift? And the next fancy dress party I go to I am stealing your idea...'cept I may go as ordinary bystander #5...just for the heck of it!
BTW...if you ever are lucky enough to get your super power, I will visit with some laxatives and we can all retire!! hehehe

If you want to be loved, be lovable.

Henry admires the view.

Zeal, n. A certain nervous disorder afflicting the young and inexperienced. A passion that goeth before a sprawl.

Here I have tried my hand at the homemade sepia-toned photo. I wasn’t happy with the way that the sun had washed out some of the colours in the original, so had a bit of a fiddle because I like the look on Henry’s face, and didn’t want to pass on posting it. I have a tip for those of you burdened with the great, unceasing weight of parenthood. I have a new recipe, in the vein of the quick microwaved chocolate cake . Get this, microwaved potato chips . I gave them a run on Sunday, Henry liked the so much I did it again last night. Tonight, I shall be experimenting with sweet potato. I think that the ground is open for me to exploit opportunities in the swede, turnip, carrot and maybe even explore in the area of pumpkins. Radical, I know. I’m a boundary-pusher by nature. It's pretty simple, take the potato. Slice it thinly (it doesn't have to be too thin, but thin enough). Lay the slices on the microwave plate, whack a bit of salt over the top and nuke the buggers for five minut

Ah, Joe, you never knew the whole of it...

I still have the robot on the job. Here you can see the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery . And here is a poem: Soliloquy for One Dead Bruce Dawe Ah, no, Joe, you never knew the whole of it, the whistling which is only the wind in the chimney's smoking belly, the footsteps on the muddy path that are always somebody else's. I think of your limbs down there, softly becoming mineral, the life of grasses, and the old love of you thrusts the tears up into my eyes, with the family aware and looking everywhere else. Sometimes when summer is over the land, when the heat quickens the deaf timbers, and birds are thick in the plumbs again, my heart sickens, Joe, calling for the water of your voice and the gone agony of your nearness. I try hard to forget, saying: If God wills, it must be so, because of His goodness, because- but the grasshopper memory leaps in the long thicket, knowing no ease. Ah, Joe, you never knew the whole of it... I like Bruce Dawe. He just my be my favourite Austral
