The merit of originality is not novelty; it is sincerity.

I'll take one of those! Sandy Bay Rowing Club, Sandy Bay. December 2011.

Another Q and A stolen from Sunday Stealing. Today we rip off Tom Baker from his blog Morning Erection and tackle The Community Meme

1. As a blogger, what do you draw inspirations from for your posts?
The world!

2. If you could swap blogs with another blogger for a post, who would you switch with and why?
Someone very, very wealthy. Maybe I could earn enough to kick back and relax...

3. If your blog had a theme song, what would it be? Why?
Great Southern Land by Icehouse

4. What is your writing process for a post?
Just vomit it out when I have a spare few minutes.

5. Your blog requires a cute, new, mascot: what would it be?
Replacing the two cute ones that I already have? Hmmm. Maybe a cartoon saltwater croc named “Henry” and a cartoon great white shark named “Ezra”.

6. Do you feel you express your "true self" on your blog?
Yes. Only with less swearing.

7. What is your biggest online pet-peeve?
Anonymity.

8. If you could live in a fictional universe, where would you live? Why?
Somewhere nice and quiet where people respected each other and their shared spaces.

9. You're having a bad day, you're upset, you're angry, or you're sad: what is your go-to comfort?
Some fresh and and (hopefully) quiet.

10. What is your favourite inspirational quote?
"If you have the choice between humble and cocky, go with cocky. There's always time to be humble later, once you've been proven horrendously, irrevocably wrong." Kinky Friedman

11. If they were to make a movie based on your life, who would play you, your leading lady/man, your best friend, and your rival?
i) Martin Donovan; ii) Irene Jacob; iii) the midget from Fantasy Island; and iv) Orson Welles.

12. Do you think the world is going to end in 2012?
I think that it is extremely unlikely.

13. If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
If I could somehow make myself more patient, I think that it would help.

14. What is your favourite season and why?
I like Summer for the beaches, Spring for the light, Autumn for the leaves and Winter for the skies.

15. You've been bitten by a vampire. Would you fight it with all your undead being or would you embrace it for all it is worth?
I would just try and roll with it.

16. Have you personally met any of your blogger friends?
Not that I am aware of.

17. What does your favourite pair of underwear look like?
Unreasonably normal.

18. Have you ever drank something right from the container in the refrigerator knowing other people will have to drink out of the same container later?
Indeed I have.

19. What is your favourite word and explain why?
I don't have a singular favourite word. It is utterly impossible to just pick one.

20. 2011 is soon coming to a close, is there anything you'd like to do different on your blog in the year 2012?
If they keep messing with the Blogger interface, I might do something extraordinarily different!

A fun read :)

Merry Xmas to you and your loved ones. Enjoy the heat while we stay miserably cold and hurdle around the fireplace.

Hold me now, oh hold me now, until this hour has gone around. And I'm gone on the rising tide, to face Van Dieman's Land

Theme Thursday again, and this one is rather easy. I am Tasmanian, you see, and aside from being all around general geniuses - as I have amply described previously - we are also very familiar with the concept of WATER. Tasmania is the ONLY island state of an ISLAND continent. That means, we're surrounded by WATER. That should help explain why I take so many photographs of water . Tasmania was for a long time the place where the British (an island race terrified of water) sent their poor people most vile and horrid criminals. The sort of folk who would face the stark choice of a death sentence , or transportation to the other end of the world. Their catalogue of crimes is horrifying : stealing bread assault stealing gentlemen's handkerchiefs drunken assault being poor affray ladies being overly friendly with gentlemen for money hitting people having a drink and a laugh public drunkenness being Irish Fenian terrorist activities being Catholic religious subversion. ...

Something unpleasant is coming when men are anxious to tell the truth.

This is the moon. Have I mentioned how much I adore the zoom on my camera? It's Theme Thursday you see, and after last week's limp effort, I have been thinking about how I might redeem myself. Then I clicked on the topic and discover that it was BUTTON. We've been hearing a lot about the moon in the past couple of weeks. Apparently some fellas went up there and played golf and what-not forty-odd years ago. The desire to get to the moon, however, was not simply about enhancing opportunities for Meg and Mog titles and skirting local planning by-laws in the construction of new and innovative golf courses. No, all of your Sputniks , "One small steps" and freeze dried ice cream was about one thing , and one thing only : MAD Now, I don't mean mad in terms of "bloke breaks record for number of scorpions he can get up his bum", no I mean MAD as in Mutual assured destruction . When I was a young man you see, there was a lot of talk about the type of m...

But when the strong were too weak to hurt the weak, the weak had to be strong enough to leave.

Can you believe that it is time for Theme Thursday already? Today we are not talking chocolate , toddlers , mess or ignominy . No, today we're dealing with ANIMAL . Now I could have posted a picture of a possum, numbat, wombat, wallaby or any other furry killing machine that roams our fair isle, but I figure that I'd use a far more deadly creature as an example of an animal . Some people - I know them as fools - have chosen to embrace that highfalutin idea that human beans are for some ungodly reason superior to animals. Of course, what these imbeciles seem to forget is that were are simple animals ourselves ! Anyone with a baby, toddler, teenage boy or Queenslander in their household could tell you this. Look at Henry [above]. One chocolate frog in the back of the car on a sunny day and all of a sudden it's Elagabalus meets Bacchus for a quick shandy in the Serengeti and we're down on all fours carrying on like a cat in heat. Fair dinkum, anyone who chooses to ...
