Ads that I like #44

Today’s ad is another one that all of you ladies out there should readily identify with. Ask yourself, do you ever feel flat? Tired? Worn-out? Are you ever so exhausted that not even an invite to The Smiths can pep you up (Morrissey must have forgiven Mike Joyce if they’re gigging again!)? Did you used to be a lot of fun, but now your friends think that you are kind of a drag to be around? Are things not right at home? Are you turning into a peevish old woman?

This ad raises an important and timely issue, one that sadly even affects my own household. Despite my distinguished record as a husband and Jen's generally solid marks on the Crane marital scale, my wife always complains that she is tired. She thinks that maybe it is something to do with looking after a lively and demanding toddler all day long while being 28 weeks pregnant, but I am not so sure. That just seems too complex a reason. I have been wracking my brains looking for an answer and - to be frank with you dear readers - it has put quite a strain on the marriage. Then I stumbled upon this ad, and it all became much clearer to me.

Therefore, for all of you fatigued and grumpy harpies out there, I implore you to closely look at this ad. Look at that first panel; go on, look at that poor girl! She is so tired that she is even knocking back The Smiths!

Now go and look at your coffee? Is it stale? LOOK! If it is, then throw it away! THROW IT AWAY NOW! It might be killing your love life. It might be killing your social life. And it just might be killing you!

That is what this young woman did and look at her now:

She now has a gaggle of men hanging off her every word. If this girl plays her cards right, she could have her pick of all of the potential husbands! Not even a good rip of the finest Bolivian marching powder could pick you up more than this girl’s switch from stale to fresh coffee.

Lest I be accused of failing my duty as a confidante and enabler of sound, practical advice to young and attractive women, today’s message does come with a warning. As I have stated above, this young lady has her pick of the men, provided she plays her cards right. She should not be carried away in the renewed enthusiasm that fresh coffee has provide her with. No, she must be careful, or she could fall into yet another category of woman that has the potential to damage her reputation forever!

Well, that might be it! I do feel very worn out. It must be the coffee!

:)
Where do you find these?
I am always bouncing off the walls anyway, too much black coffee. As for the Smiths, perfect and I won't have word said against them.

Babooshka, I have scores of minons scouring the globe to find vintage ads.

As for the Smiths, that's how I knew how desperate this particular woman's plight must be, passing up on the Smiths!

Ah, Joe, you never knew the whole of it...

I still have the robot on the job. Here you can see the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery . And here is a poem: Soliloquy for One Dead Bruce Dawe Ah, no, Joe, you never knew the whole of it, the whistling which is only the wind in the chimney's smoking belly, the footsteps on the muddy path that are always somebody else's. I think of your limbs down there, softly becoming mineral, the life of grasses, and the old love of you thrusts the tears up into my eyes, with the family aware and looking everywhere else. Sometimes when summer is over the land, when the heat quickens the deaf timbers, and birds are thick in the plumbs again, my heart sickens, Joe, calling for the water of your voice and the gone agony of your nearness. I try hard to forget, saying: If God wills, it must be so, because of His goodness, because- but the grasshopper memory leaps in the long thicket, knowing no ease. Ah, Joe, you never knew the whole of it... I like Bruce Dawe. He just my be my favourite Austral...

There was nothing left. No reason, no conscience, no understanding; even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong.

Here is a self portrait. I’m calling it Portrait of a lady in a dirty window . Shocking, isn’t it? However, it is apt! Samhain , Nos Galan Gaeaf , Hop-tu-Naa , All Saints , All Hallows , Hallowmas , Hallowe'en or HALLOWEEN . It’s Theme Thursday and we’re talking about the festivals traditionally held at the end of the harvest season. Huh? No wonder Australians have trouble with the concept of HALLOWEEN. For the record, in my thirty-two L O N G years on the planet, I can’t say I’ve ever seen ghosts ‘n goblins, trick ‘n treaters or Michael Myers stalking Tasmania’s streets at the end of October. [That said, I did once see a woman as pale as a ghost turning tricks that looked like Michael Myers in late November one time.] Despite the best efforts of Hollywood, sitcoms, and innumerable companies; it seems Australians are impervious to the [ahem] charms of a corporatized variant of a celebration of the end of the "lighter half" of the year and beginning of the "darke...

In dreams begin responsibilities.

A life at sea, that's for me, only I just don't have the BREAD. That's right, Theme Thursday yet again and I post a photo of a yacht dicking about in Bass Strait just off Wynyard. The problem is, I am yet again stuck at work, slogging away, because I knead need the dough . My understanding is that it is the dough that makes the BREAD. And it is the BREAD that buys the yacht. On my salary though, I will be lucky to have enough dough or BREAD for a half dozen dinner rolls. Happy Theme Thursday people, sorry for the rush.
